    • Akhenaton: Ancient Revolutionary is an excellent text only site to understand the man and the impact he had on the times...from Gerhard Rempel at Western New England College. Akhet-Aten Home Page alternate address - The Akhet-Aten Home Page Interesting read on a very mysterious subject. Who was Akhenaten, where is he buried, who was his successor?...Nice attractive page but the mystery remains after you leave. Several good links to follow at the bottom of the page. Akhenaten - The Glory of the Aten Did Akhenaten suffer from Marfan's Syndrome? - Discovery Channel (CA) One of history's most enigmatic characters may be one step closer to being understood, thanks to the research of a fledgling Canadian
Egyptologist. Alwyn Burridge , an Egyptology doctoral student at the University of Toronto, has been
dogging the mystery of the strange appearance of Akhenaten, the "rebel pharaoh" who was one of history's first recorded monotheists. Her persuasive theory suggests he suffered from the genetic disease known as Marfan's syndrome, and not only offers insights into his odd physical characteristics and short lifespan, but into the philosophical and cultural revolution that he visited on the Egyptian society of his day.

Recent Books on Women in Prehistory The role of women in prehistory is a subject of wide popular interest. Dahlberg's challenge of "man the hunter" as the primary catalyst for human civilization is now classic. Marija Gimbutas' theories of the ancient culture of Old Europe, before the invasion of warlike Indo Europeans, is the foundation for much of the more popular literature. Read these and more skeptical views for perspective. Posters of Goddesses Choose from among these posters of goddesses, some from Renaissance art, or art deco, or more modern images.

    A word of caution
This site is based on what is considered more or less orthodox chronology, which of course means that there are other, deviant chronologies. On the whole I prefer the plodding examination of facts however few and poorly understood to the flights of fancy of some of the alternative historians. Chances are it gets us a bit closer to the truth, which, unless timetravel is invented, we will never know.
One would like to think that physical remains should leave little to doubt. But stone artefacts and buildings are remarkably difficult to date [

    http://www.carnegiemuseums.org/cmnh/exhibits/egypt/
Welcome to Life in Ancient Egypt, an introduction to The Walton Hall of Ancient Egypt at the Carnegie Museum of Natural History. Carnegie Museum of Natural History has acquired Egyptian artifacts since its founding and now holds about twenty-five-hundred ancient Egyptian artifacts. The most significant of these objects, over six hundred of them, are displayed in The Walton Hall of Ancient Egypt. In the hall the artifacts are displayed in relation to the daily life and traditions of the people who made them, so that the objects are seen in the context of the culture. To present a cohesive picture of ancient Egyptian society, its technology, its social system, and its beliefs, we have arranged the objects in several thematic areas. Life in Ancient Egypt, however, presents the themes in a slightly different order than the hall. You may choose from the links to the left or follow the suggested path by clicking the Next button on each screen. We hope you have the opportunity to come to the Carnegie Museum of Natural History and visit The Walton Hall of Ancient Egypt.
