In the year 2000, SIFAT and its board of directors began exploring the possibility of establishing a boarding home, under the invitation of Benjamin Paredes, director of CENATEC, for the children of the remote homesteaders bordering on the Madidi National Park. The initial plan was: Construct and operate a boarding home for the children of the settlers living long distances from the base of public education. Introduce and teach sustainable agriculture and other basic classes that will empower the children and their families. Introduce and share God’s love in practical ways, and disciple the new believers.

INCA History "The birth, growth and fall of the Inca Empire " Of the early chroniclers who wrote about the great Inca Empire, it may come as no surprise to anyone that I'm more partial to The Inca – Garcilaso de la Vega and his "Comentarios Reales de los Incas" (Royal Commentaries of the Incas, Part One was published in Spain in 1609). THE INCA GARCILASO DE LA VEGA: Garcilaso was born on April 12, 1539, in the very decade of the conquest of Peru, in the ancient Inca capital of Cusco. The son of a Spanish conquistador, Captain Sebastian de la Vega Vargas, of noble Spanish lineage, and the Incan Princess, Ñusta Chimpu Ocllo, a second cousin to the last two Inca rulers – Huascar and Atahuallpa. He was therefore one of the first of the new race of "mestizos", the fruit of the coming together of the two races: the Spanish and the native south americans. He was baptised "Gomez Suarez de Figueroa" after several of his father's relatives (later in his adult life he adopted the name of Garcilaso from a Castilian poet whom he greatly admired).

Bij onze aankomst en voor ons vertrek dienden we om onze papieren in orde te maken even in Quito blijven, zodat we ook de gelegenheid kregen deze prachtige hoofdstad en de bergachtige omgeving wat nader te leren kennen. De stage zelf deden we in twee ziekenhuizen in Guayaquil , gynecologie in het ziekenhuis Sotomayor en pediatrie in het ziekenhuis Alejandro Mann . We brachten onze enige vakantie door op de Galapagos In november '98 bracht ik een nieuw bezoek aan Ecuador, zowel als ontspannende vakantie, als om leuke herinneringen op te halen en om een bezoekje te brengen aan Sandra Limones, de vroedvrouw met wie ik mijn stage deed, met wie ik al zes jaar een aangename briefwisseling onderhoudt en die nu op de Galapagos woont en werkt.
