http://lasker.princeton.edu/general.html
What is PEPP?
PEPP (the Princeton Earth Physics Project) was established as a way to build a network of seismic recording stations in high schools across the US and to enrich secondary school science education. The goal of PEPP is to create fruitful links between research universities, colleges, and secondary education. It seeks to engage students in the acquisition of seismological data, to help teachers bring the reality of science into the classroom, and to motivate and enable scientists to spread knowledge and activities beyond the boundaries of their departments. Students use the PEPP network to study earthquakes and build research skills using real seismic data. PEPP's WWW server provides access to seismograms recorded by the PEPP Seismograph Network and other networks, access to a global seismicity database, and many other useful resources associated with PEPP or available on the Internet. PEPP was developed by Princeton University Department of Geosciences as a joint educational activity with several research universities who are part of the IRIS consortium. Funding for PEPP comes from the National Science Foundation (NSF), with contributions from IRIS, Princeton University. PEPP Seismic Network
The PEPP Seismic Network page has maps which show the many schools that are involved in the PEPP Project. These schools are the backbone of PEPP. Each runs a real seismic station to record earthquakes using a low-cost seismometer developed especially for PEPP. Schools share data over the Internet and contribute to the central PEPP database.

Emphasis in General Earth Sciences
The General Earth Sciences emphasis provides a multidisciplinary background in the earth sciences. It offers an opportunity to develop a sequence of courses that includes both earth sciences and supporting fields of science and mathematics that best serve individual interests and career goals. This emphasis is intended for students who desire a comprehensive understanding of their physical environment, wish to pursue interests in oceanography or astronomy, or who plan to pursue careers in pre-secondary teaching where a multidisciplinary background in the earth sciences and supporting sciences and mathematics is desirable.
