Screen Shots (click for full size) Rif at Contest Hall of Elk King Ferret Village Talk with Elara Inherit the Earth Quest for the Orb The return of a classic adventure game! Available on CD-ROM for Windows 98, ME, 2000 and XP and Mac OS X (10.1.2 or later) About the Game Rif of the Fox Tribe has traveled far from home with his companion Rhene to compete in a puzzle contest. The night before the contest someone steals the wondrous Orb of Storms, an ancient relic of the Humans, and Rif is accused of being the thief. Rif is able to convince his accusers to give him a chance to find the real thief and recover the Orb. Two warriors are assigned to assist and guard Rif in his quest, Eeah of the Elk Tribe and Okk of the Boar Tribe. In addition Rhene is held hostage by the Boar King to ensure Rif does not try to escape. Your goal in Inherit the Earth: Quest for the Orb is to guide Rif on his adventure, find clues to locate the real thief, and solve challenges along the way. You can have Rif talk to Okk, Eeah, and other Morph characters that are encountered during Rif's travels. Rif can pick-up items he finds and give these items to others. Some will only trade information for precious items, although what a Morph considers precious can vary greatly.

Overall Rating:
Features Cast Information: The quality of the images is a bit iffy. It is hard to tell if this is because the director deliberately went for poor quality in areas, because it was a cheap production, or because the transfer was from a poor original. The story itself is quite simple: an alien travels to earth, tries to fit in and make money, and then wants to return home. But the execution may or may not be linear. The story is hard to follow and some things are just never explained. Sometimes there are flashbacks to his home planet; sometimes, he either imagines, or we see, his family waiting for him, and perhaps sick from lack of water. There are only six chapters, making it easy to fit all chapters on one screen, but difficult to pinpoint scenes.

Earth Day in Your Neighborhood HOW TO DO AN EARTH DAY ON YOUR BLOCK THIS SPRING A Guide for Kids From 2 to 122 WHY DO AN EARTH DAY ON YOUR BLOCK
Because it's fun and it is good for the environment and the neighborhood
CELEBRATE THE ENVIRONMENT
Because parties are fun, they are an easy way to learn things. An Earth Day can be a party that reminds us of what we know about living gently on the Earth and show us new things to do. People feel better after sharing a good time together. They talk and get new ideas to help the Earth. Then they have a good reason to act on what they learned. Just as the Fourth of July reminds us to love our country, Earth Day reminds us to love and care for the Earth and our fellow creatures. If every neighborhood lived in har-mony with nature, most of our environmental problems would be gone.
CELEBRATE OUR NEIGHBORHOOD
A stronger feeling of friendship on the block will make people feel better about their block. Stronger friendships on the block mean that people will look out for each other better. More people out doing things on the block can help reduce crime because people who want to steal don't want to be seen. There may be people who need help on your block. But if no one knows them, then no one can help. Your Earth Day will help people get to know each other.

THE EARTH Back to the Planets Introduction: Size, Orbit, etc. How Fast is Earth Moving? Continental Drift ... Geologic Time Chart
INTRODUCTION TO THE EARTH
The Earth is the third planet from the Sun in our Solar System. It is the planet we evolved on and the only planet in our Solar System that is known to support life.
SIZE
The Earth is about 7,926 miles (12,756 km) in diameter. The Earth is the fifth-largest planet in our Solar System (after Jupiter Saturn Uranus , and Neptune Eratosthenes (276-194 BC) was a Greek scholar who was the first person to determine the circumference of the Earth. He compared the midsummer's noon shadow in deep wells in Syene (now Aswan on the Nile in Egypt) and Alexandria. He properly assumed that the Sun's rays are virtually parallel (since the Sun is so far away). Knowing the distance between the two locations, he calculated the circumference of the Earth to be 250,000 stadia. Exactly how long a stadia is is unknown, so his accuracy is uncertain, but he was very close. He also accurately measured the tilt of the Earth's axis and the distance to the sun and moon.
The Earth and the moon . Photo taken by NASA's Galileo mission in 1990. THE MOON
The Earth has one moon . The diameter of the moon is about one quarter of the diameter of the Earth.

99. The Marfa Mystery Lights
Contains theories and accounts about the Marfa earth light phenomenon paranormal phenomena, tourist attraction, or just some automobile headlights?
http://www.watchingyou.com/marfa.html
"The Marfa Lights, mysterious and unexplained lights that have been reported in the area for over one hundred years, have been the subject of many theories. The first recorded sighting of the lights was by rancher Robert Ellison in 1883. Variously described as campfires, phosphorescent minerals, swamp gas, static electricity, St. Elmo's Fire, and "ghost lights," the lights reportedly change colors, move around, and change in intensity. Scholars have reported over seventy-five local folk tales dealing with the unknown phenomenon. - 1988"
- Text of the "official" State of Texas road marker
May 2003 Update: Fantastic news! John Janks, author of the " Daytime-Nighttime Hyperspectral Analysis of an Area South of Marfa, Texas " study, has secured the original online files and has allowed me to host the pages here . In my opinion, this is perhaps the finest research done on the Marfa Lights to date. (Please note that since Alto Technology, Inc. was acquired by ChevronTexaco in 2001, a number of the links and e-mail addresses mentioned in the study are no longer valid.) April 2003 Update: Eric Shackle, a retired journalist from Oz, has some interesting commentary regarding Australia's nightime roadside mystery

100. Earth Floor: Biomes
There are many different kinds of plants and animals on the earth, but only certain kinds are naturally found at any particular place.
http://www.cotf.edu/ete/modules/msese/earthsysflr/biomes.html
There are many different kinds of plants and animals on the Earth, but only certain kinds are naturally found at any particular place. (We are not counting zoos here!) For example, cacti are found in the desert, polar bears are found in the Arctic, and elephants are found in central Africa and India. So, why don't people living in south Texas have to be on the lookout for snow leopards, or why don't kids in Minnesota have to worry about finding giant boa constrictors in their back yards? It is because these animals are not adapted to live in the average weather conditions found in Texas or Minnesota These average weather conditions, such as the range of temperature and rainfall that typically occur in a particular location like Minnesota, are called the climate of that location. Some climates are hot, some are cold, some are wet and some are dry. "Adapted" means that a plant or animal has inherited certain characteristics that enable it to live in one type of climate or another. For example, polar bears have a layer of fat under their skin and a heavy fur coat to help them withstand arctic cold. They would have a difficult time trying to survive in a hot climate. Plants and animals don't live in isolation, but they live together with other plants and animals in an interdependent group called an ecological community. If you think about it for a moment, you will realize that all of the plants and animals in a particular ecological community must be adapted to the same climate so that they can all live in the same location.
