Educators for Social Responsibility ESR's mission is to make teaching social responsibility a core practice in education so that young people develop the convictions and skills needed to shape a safe, sustainable, democratic, and just world. In the wake of the attacks on the World Trade Center and elsewhere, we've issued a call to transform "Crisis into Community," a guide to assist Talking to Children About Violence and Other Sensitive and Complex Issues in the World (Newly updated on March 23, 2003), and a brand new sequel to that guide, "Responding to Violent Events by Building Community: Action Ideas for Students and Schools." Plus, we've added a set of free lessons customized to help educators and students discuss and understand the attacks of September 11th, war, peace, conflict, retaliation, prejudice, discrimination, propaganda, and a range of divergent points of view.
