Reading from Scratch, (RfS/EL)
a program of science-based teaching techniques, now makes possible grade level or higher reading.
Because brain scans have finally pin-pointed the CAUSE of dyslexia, and if you remove the cause, the reading problem can be fixed.
A good reader uses the left side of his brain when he reads.
A dyslectic reader uses the right by mistake.
Switch the reader over to the left where the programming is built in for reading and spelling. RfS/EL was designed to make that switch.
The previously dyslectic student can finally do academic work that reflects his ability instead of his reading problem.
There are two versions of the program, a

Introduction to RfS What is Dyslexia? Who Has It? ... Bibliography ENGLISH SPELLING RULES
Short and Long Vowels
1. To spell a short vowel sound, only one letter is needed:
at red it hot up 2. To spell a long sound you must add a second vowel. The second may be next to the first, in the VVC pattern (b oa t, m ai d, c ue , etc.) or it may be separated from the first one by a consonant in the VCV pattern (m a d e , r i d e , t i d e , etc.). If the second vowel is separated from the first by two spaces, it does not affect the first one. This is the VCCV pattern in which the first vowel remains short. Thus, doubling a consonant can be called "protecting" a short vowel because it prevents an incoming vowel from getting close enough to the first one to change its sound from short to long: m ai d, m

"We all have differences, differences in temperament, differences in how we communicate, differences in how we think and work. A vital society is enriched by these differences and actively celebrates them. But when learning differences frustrate the process of getting an education, when they limit possibilities, when they diminish self-esteem, then they must be overcome. The right way to do this for each child is as individualized and unique as the children themselves." John Alexander

Welcome to Dylexia Wales
The Dyslexia Wales course helps solve learning problems encountered by dyslexics. The course empowers both adults and children with dyslexia to take personal responsibility for their learning process. The Dyslexia Wales method does not rely on costly drugs, machinery or appliances. The course addresses the core difficulties and releases the latent talents of dyslexic people. The Dyslexia Wales course is an interactive process which relies on the commitment, participation and involvement of both parties to develop a successful working partnership to overcome the learning diffiulties associated with dyslexia and similar conditions, such as dyspraxia, dysphasia, dyscalculia, bedwetting, hyperactivity, and attention deficit disorder. Progress on the Dyslexia Wales course is relatively quick. A dyslexic can work through the programme in 30 hours and then go on to complete the home course in a matter of months. This means that dyslexics are not dependent upon long term support.

http://www.dyslexia-add.org/
Since 1975, the goal of the Dyslexia Research Institute, Inc. has been to change the perception of learning differences, specifically in the area of dyslexia and attention deficit disorders (ADD). With proper recognition and intervention, dyslexics and individuals with ADD become successful individuals using their talents and skills to enrich our society. They may take their place alongside other dyslexics/ADDs, such as Woodrow Wilson, Thomas Edison, Albert Einstein, and Nelson Rockefeller. Ten to fifteen percent of the US population has dyslexia, yet only five out of every one hundred dyslexics are recognized and receive assistance. Approximately 60% of individuals diagnosed with attention deficit disorders are also dyslexic, however, their learning and language differences are often unrecognized because only the behavioral aspects of ADD are addressed. Without the proper diagnosis and help, many of these dyslexics and ADD individuals are only functionally literate, and are part of the forty-four million adults with only the lowest level of literacy. This limits their ability to find jobs and function independently within their communities. The Dyslexia Research Institute mission is to change these statistics by providing appropriate identification and training.

Teaching Methods Multi-sensory teaching methods Studies from the National Institutes of Child Health and Human Development have shown that for children with difficulties learning to read, a multi-sensory teaching method is the most effective teaching method. This is especially crucial to teach a dyslexic child. But what does it mean? More Confidence building The majority of children with dyslexia have come to the conclusion that they are stupid! In any school in any week of the year a dyslexic child experiences a huge amount of failure. Why can't he read and spell? He must be dumb, thick, stupid. It's the conclusion that anyone would reach in similar circumstances, and it badly needs changing before any corrective teaching is going to be effective. Sarah hates reading aloud in class. She's never been a good reader, and even when she recognizes the words on the page, she seems to have trouble saying them correctly. School's never been her favorite place, anyway, because her teachers always complain about her writing and her spelling. She often gets discouraged, thinking that she's not as smart as other students. Fortunately, Sarah has discovered she has talents that others don't. She's great at dreaming up costume and scenery ideas in drama club, and she's one of the best artists in her school. Sometimes she wonders how she can do so well in some areas of her life and so poorly in others. What Sarah, her parents, and her teachers don't realize is that Sarah has dyslexia. What Is Dyslexia?
Dyslexia
(pronounced: dis- lek -see-ah) is a type of learning disability . A person with a learning disability has trouble processing or understanding words or numbers. There are many different kinds of learning disabilities; dyslexia is the term used when people have difficulty learning to read, even though they are smart enough and are motivated to learn. The word dyslexia comes from two Greek words: dys , which means abnormal or impaired, and lexis which refers to language or words.
