145. Preventing Cruelty To KFC Chickens Petition
A petition against Ohio State University from trying to determine the effects of drug abuse in humans who are HIVpositive by injecting cats with the feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV) and then giving them doses of methamphetamine. According to experts, FIV is a poor model for HIV and the findings of this cruel experiment probably would be irrelevant to humans with HIV.

Preventing Cruelty to KFC Chickens
View Current Signatures Sign the Petition To: PETA It came to my attention not long ago of the Cruelty that KFC was inflicting on their chickens. It made me sick to think this was happening, and I have put this petition together to help stop this horrendous cruelty from continuing to happen.
A worker from the Tyson Plant in Grannis, Ark. reported these conditions to the People for the Ethical Treatment to Animals (PETA). They have now taken up this case as the one of most concern, and are doing everything in their power to stop this from happening.
These chickens suffer a lot. These birds are killed in the most un-humane ways, and may people forget that just like us, they can feel pain.
They can be blown apart by dry ice bombs and intentionally scolded to death in hundreds, let alone having their legs broken to fit into shackles.
Tyson foods is the top supplier of chicken to KFC, therefore they are being targeted firstly, but the aim is to eventually have laws passed against such treatment.
Their first request is to have electrical stunning and throat slicing replaced with gas killing, as this is far less painful and stressful for the chickens.

Table of Contents
What Is Ketamine?
Ketamine, or ketamine hydrochloride, is a non-barbiturate, rapid-acting disassociative anesthetic used on both animals and humans; it also has been used in human medicine for pediatric burn cases and dentistry, and in experimental psychotherapy. It is being abused by an increasing number of young people as a "club drug," and is often distributed at "raves" and parties.
What Are Some of Its Street Names?
Some street names for ketamine are: K, Ket, Special K, Vitamin K, Vit K, Kit Kat, Keller, Kelly's day, Green, Blind squid, Cat valium, Purple, Special la coke, Super acid, and Super C. Slang for experiences related to ketamine or effects of ketamine include, "k-hole," "K-land," "baby food," and "God."
How Is It Being Abused?
Ketamine is a liquid and the most potent ways of using it are by injecting it intramuscularly or intravenously. There is the risk of losing motor control before injection is completed. Ketamine also can be made into a tablet, or a powder by evaporating the liquid and reducing it to a fine white powder that can be smoked or snorted. Because of its appearance, Ketamine is often mistaken for cocaine or crystal methamphetamine. Some reports indicate it is sometimes sold as MDMA (Ecstasy) and mixed with other drugs such as ephedrine and caffeine. "Cafeteria use" the use of a number of hallucinogenic and sedative/hypnotic club drugs such as MDMA, GHB, LSD, and illegally used prescription drugs is reported almost everywhere in the U.S.

Student Assistance Program: What It's All About
Recognizing one of society's most urgent problems children affected by drug and alcohol abuse the Masons of Illinois have taken positive steps to address this issue through the Illinois Masonic Foundation for the Prevention of Drug and Alcohol Abuse Among Children (IMF). The foundation, a private, not-for-profit, charitable (501.C3) organization is funded and supported by Illinois Masons, and operated by a board of managers who report to the Grand Lodge of Illinois' Board of Directors. At the heart of the IMF activities is a training program that helps Illinois educators learn to identify and intervene with troubled students in their schools. The IMF provides for all the training and follow-up technical assistance for teams of educators at Illinois schools that want to use this new Student Assistance Program (SAP) for helping at-risk students. Training is usually Core team volunteers meet at various locations around the state for intensive training sessions. Participants learn how to intervene effectively with students who have school difficulties due to non-academic reasons. They do this by gaining knowledge of risk factors, the program process and specific skills needed to implement the program in their home schools. During the training, they also learn more about themselves and each other, which helps them learn to work together as a team.
