Paper Number Four: Submitted 08 March, 1996 Photographs of Morocco
Writing ethnography as drama can have a powerful effect like it did in my classroom. It will be argued below that, in this particular case, using drama is the best way to place the researcher in the text. It will also be argued that writing this ethnography as a drama can recapture the original conversations in a way that traditional ethnographic forms could not.
According to Lincoln and Denzin, no qualitative researcher can be objective, and because of this, "all texts are personal statements." (Lincoln & Denzin, 1994, 578) Atkinson and Hammersley agree that there is no such thing as the objective researcher since all ethnographic work will, "reflect the presuppositions and socio-historical circumstances of their production." (Atkinson & Hammersley, 1994, 252) The text below was not just created from a slice of Moroccan culture, it was created by two cultures: Moroccan and American. (Fontana & Frey, 1994, 372) The reader will see a slice of Moroccan culture through my interpretations, so the reader must be given the information needed to locate the origins and viewpoint of my interpretations. The best way to achieve this goal, in this case, is to include the researcher in the text.

Conclusions
Arts Instruction in Public Elementary and Secondary Schools
Arts instruction is carried out differently within elementary and secondary schools. At the secondary level, arts instruction is provided primarily through elective courses and is often taught by multiple specialists in each of the four arts subjects. In contrast, at the elementary level, arts instruction is usually limited to music and visual arts and is part of a standard curriculum in which all students participate (Carey et al. 1995). It is for these reasons that distinct surveys were sent to elementary and secondary school principals. Further, given these fundamental differences in the ways in which the arts are delivered at the elementary and secondary levels, comparisons across education levels are not appropriate. Elementary Schools
Findings from the elementary school survey indicate that music and visual arts instruction were available in most of the nation's regular elementary schools (94 percent and 87 percent, respectively). Dance and drama/theatre instruction were less commonly available at the elementary level (20 percent and 14 percent, respectively). Of those schools offering instruction in arts subjects, dedicated rooms with special equipment were used for music by 67 percent of schools, for visual arts by 56 percent, for dance by 14 percent, and for drama/theatre by 13 percent of schools.

TWENTY PRACTICAL USES OF A COMPUTER FOR THE EFL PROFESSIONAL by Chris Elvin This paper is a list of the uses that I have for my computer as a high school teacher of English as a foreign language.
This is not a how to guide. Nor do I offer an evaluation for of any of my teaching ideas; suffice to say that none of the suggestions is particularly groundbreaking, and that if they have not yet been tried and tested, similar activities have.
Classroom Suggestions
1) To make worksheets
I start with perhaps the most obvious use of a computer, to make teaching resources for classroom use. Some worksheets that I make are to support the language learning aims of the syllabus, while others are made to more closely meet the students' needs or wants, by allowing them to be part of the resource creating process.
For example, to review a topic, or a language structure, I hand out slips of paper and ask students to write down two or three questions that they would like to ask their classmates. In a preformatted Excel page, it is a relatively easy task to quickly type, sort and edit the students' questions, before pasting into

Letters to the Editor
Dear Editor, In the January 30 th edition of the Drops of Ink, Coach Jennrich responded to a previous article on gay teens. While I like and respect Mr. Jennrich as an individual and a fine coach, I take issue with some of his views and believe it is incumbent on faculty members who have an opposing view to speak out. In my years as drama coach and English teacher, I have known quite a few gay teens. Many of them struggled daily with their sexual orientation. Others confided in my that they wished they could be heterosexual. Why would any of them have chosen a more difficult lifestyle? It just doesn't make sense. They simply are the way that God made them. Our job as teachers is to try to get each student to achieve his or her full potential as an individual. It isn't dependent on sex, race, ethnic background or sexual orientation. To denigrate one group of students as “wrong” and “sinful” based on an attraction that they cannot control is discriminatory and just plain wrong. No teacher should let his political, moral or religious views color how they relate to the students who are in his care. Teachers must model toleration or students will believe that it is acceptable to persecute anyone who isn't “just like them.” Until we embrace those who are different fro us and acknowledge that they have just as much right to a free and happy life, we will never be truly free ourselves.
