The program is basically geared towards humanities, business, political sciences, media studies and Italian language, together with a strong course component on cultural diversity and understanding and other philosophical and ethical questions, thus reflecting the cultural mosaic of modern Italy. Courses are taught following a semester calendar with a 14-week fall session, a 14-week spring session, and a 5-week summer session. As all instruction is in English, no prior study of Italian is required. The program provides a study abroad program firmly based on the American academic tradition. London Dramatic Academy
For three decades, the London Dramatic Academy sponsored by Marymount College of Fordham University has provided a lively and intense introduction to the principles of British acting. Practical rather than strictly theoretical, the program offers a stimulating and demanding experience for all participants - students and instructors alike. The wide range of experienced tutors, drawn largely from within the profession, ensures that work is not limited in either theory or outlook. Students are encouraged to develop their skills using the lessons of the past and present to help create a theatre for the future. Emphasis is placed on small classes, specialized workshops, and regular one-on-one tutorials, both in acting and in the Alexander Technique of movement. Classes take place at the Marymount London Centre Monday thru Friday, 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Master Classes connect students with some of the United Kingdom's most exciting actors, writers and directors through informal and intimate discussions, and students participate in meetings with their peers at other British theatre schools.

Drama critics have recognized the company with multiple awards. The Theatre has toured nationally and internationally and its work has been featured on Public Television.

The graduate program in drama trains scholar-artists for the academic profession, with a focus on performance history, dramatic literature, and theory. Students are encouraged to pursue their own scholarly interests under the guidance of faculty both in this department and in others on campus. Our program is small enough to allow close relationships between students and faculty, with each degree candidate receiving personal attention. The current faculty is often supplemented by inviting distinguished academics from other universities to teach seminars in their fields. Recently, we have had Professor Virginia Scott of the University of Massachusetts at Amherst offering a course in commedia dell’arte , Professor John Emigh of Brown University teaching a course on performance theory, Professor Thomas Connolly of Suffolk University teaching courses on American theatre of the nineteenth century and the 1920s and 30s. In addition, graduate students may take appropriate courses offered by other departments and programs. Advanced students are often allowed to carry on directed study in specialties not otherwise on offer. The department usually accepts two or three candidates for the Master of Arts degree and three or four candidates for the Doctor of Philosophy degree each year. Departmental fellowships and assistantships are distributed on the basis of financial need

Students who successfully complete the program are awarded the Master of Fine Arts degree in Theatre. Because we are an MFA program, All core faculty are life members or associates of The Actors Studio; as such, they all speak a common language, while maintaining individual approaches both to theatre and to teaching. The goal of the program is to produce theatre artists who have access to emotional truth and moment-to-moment reality while maintaining a sense of stage-craft and professionalism, and to present those artists to the theatrical community in the third-year Repertory Season.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
The Drama Club has been in existence for four years. It is an after school program that develops and hones imaginative skills. Students study characters in plays, give them voice and join other student actors to create a visual presentation of another time and place.
STUDENTS
On the average of 36-60 students in grades 5-8 participate in Drama Club. The actors are at all levels of academic development and are afforded a chance to perform in a venue other than a traditional classroom setting. This program could be adapted for grades 3-5, for special needs students, with additional help from faculty or staff members.
RESOURCES
I have the assistance of a number of faculty members, some volunteer parents and two student "dance captains" who have the talent to choreograph the dance numbers. I use scripts that are online, from the Public Library, some Reader's Theater books, scripts from basal Reading series and scripts from a production company in New York, MTI, who adapt plays for the Elementary school actors. I have taken the actors on field trips to local theater productions, high school productions and professional productions in the Cleveland Theater District. The actors use the Computer Lab to create the programs, the tickets, and posters for advertisements. We have been assisted by Goodwill Industries with donations of props, furniture and vintage clothing for costuming. Parents have donated funds and dinners for the cast members and have shared in the sewing of costumes and building of the sets and the stage.

Drama for Schools Project: Kids Take Center Stage in Learning
UT Austin’s Department of Theatre and Dance is taking one of its most popular "shows" on the road again in an encore performance of its Drama for Schools Project. Since 1996, the department has partnered with public school districts around the state to implement the Drama for Schools Project, which places UT theatre faculty and graduate students in the public schools where they train K-12 teachers to use creative drama techniques to teach across the curriculum. These techniques, learned by teachers over a two-year period, can be applied to history, geography, English, and a variety of social science classes to help students become more invested in their studies. History students, for example, might work together to write and produce a play about the battle of the Alamo. This activity engages students in group research, promotes practice of English and writing skills, and includes memorizing historical facts and dates that are part of their play. It also teaches them social and disciplinary skills required for working in a team setting. Ana Flores, a sixth-grade teacher at Ann Richards Middle School in Mission, Texas, knows this first hand.

Some of the programs included here offer degrees in dramaturgy, some offer a dramaturgy concentration within another degree, and some offer course work in dramaturgy or related areas. We sent detailed questionnaires to theatre programs across the country to determine what they offer to students of dramaturgy. This listing is a distillation of those responses.
