The Carib Territory is the only designated Indigenous land base in the Caribbean and it was formed in l904. One of its priorities is recording Carib history and culture through interviews, documentation of oral stories, and the future establishment of a cultural resource centre and museum. Karifuna , the only Carib Indian cultural group in Dominica that teaches traditional dance and music and popular theatre to young Carib Indians. The group is based on the belief that the Carib culture must be preserved and taught to future generations.
