1314 Main Street
Haverhill, Massachusetts
History:

The Clement Farm Trail is situated on a beautiful 53-acre parcel of land bordering Plaistow, NH. Records obtained at the Haverhill Public Library show a long history of ownership in the Clement Family dating back to colonial times. One of the first settlers to Haverhill was Robert Clement, Sr., who came with his family from England in 1642. His son, Robert Jr., was one of the colonists who signed the original Deed of Haverhill from the residing Native Americans. Lt. John Clement, a grandson of Robert Clement, Jr., was given a grant of land in Haverhill's North Parish on January 29, 1721. This land is the site of the present Clement Farm. The original home built in 1721 was a wood-frame colonial with a typical long slanted rear roof. A number of generations of Clements lived in this house until Jesse Clement, the great-great grandson of Lt. John Clement, made the bricks and built the present Clement Farmhouse in 1813. He also planted, in 1822, many of the stately maple trees that still remain around the farm. Many more generations of Clements remained on the farm until March 6, 1930. On that date, an agreement was reached whereby the farm was deeded to the American Legion, Wilbur M. Comeau Post, for them to use and maintain until 1980, at which time the City of Haverhill would accept the deed to the property.

    http://dcnr.nv.gov/nrp01/recrea03.htm
State Parks and Wildlife Management Areas
The NDOW administers outdoor recreation activities on 11 state Wildlife Management Areas (WMA's). Primary activities are hunting, fishing and wildlife watching. Activities are subject to regulations established by the State Board of Wildlife Commissioners . Natural and artificial lakes, reservoirs, streams, springs, and wetlands are central to ten of the WMA's.
Public use data is limited because most of the WMA's are unmanned. The average annual number of "use days" for Mason Valley WMA is 47,000; for Overton, 5,300; for Kirch, 22,000; and, for Key Pittman WMA, 1,800. Each is popular for fishing, waterfowl and upland game bird hunting, as well as substantial "nonconsumptive" uses. Nonconsumptive activities include wildlife watching, photography, hiking, education, and scientific study (Nevada Division of Wildlife, 2001). Table 5-5

For Nevada's state parks, visitation has grown with development of the park system, but has lagged behind the rate of population growth. The earliest record of visitation occurred in 1960 when 155,887 people reportedly used the parks. By 1971, the annual visitation had grown to 1 million.
The largest and most steady increases occurred during the early to mid-1970's when development of new facilities and the acquisition of new park acreage were at their peak. By 1976, over 2 million visitors were recreating at the state parks annually. Visitation increased 100 percent in only 5 years. However, 19 years passed before visitation exceeded the 3-million threshold, despite rapid population growth.

    http://www.publicland.org/ohv.htm
    OFF-HIGHWAY VECHICLE (OHV)
OFF HIGHWAY USE VEHICLE (OHV) USE OF THE BLM ADMINISTERED PUBLIC LANDS EXECUTIVE SUMMARY Off-highway vehicle (OHV) use is an established use of the BLM administered public lands. As with any public land use, OHV use must be managed in a manner consistent with the capability of the land to sustain the use, with due consideration for the impact of OHV use on the land, the resources and other land users. Historic use of the public lands for recreation and for the search, exploration and development of natural resources has resulted in a system of off-highway roads and trails that is, in most cases, adequate for reasonable public access for both recreational and authorized resource uses. Existing roads and trails should remain open for public use unless the continued use of a specific road or trail is determined to be a significant threat to an endangered species or cultural resources, or damaging to important wildlife habitat, vegetation or soils on the land which the road or trail traverses. Closure of existing roads or trails should be done in the context of the BLM land use planning process with full public involvement, and appropriate closures should be visibly signed on the ground and marked on public land maps. Vehicle operation off existing roads or trails may be approved as appropriate for permittees and lessees as necessary to exercise their authorized activities; for resource managers to conduct management activities such as resource studies or project work; for emergency activities such as rescue and wildfire fighting; and for handicapped access. New roads authorized in connection with such resource uses as timber harvest and mineral development should be closed and reclaimed when operations are finished, unless the BLM determines that the roads are appropriate for inclusion into the public access or transportation plan for the area.
