101. Pro/ENGINEER Tips And Tricks For Pro/E Design
Tips and tricks and help for Pro/E modeling, surfaces and parametric CAD design.

The Pro/Engineer Tip-of-the-Month is a feature of Synthesis Engineering Services , a PTC Certified Engineering Provider (CEP) . With ProE for CAD design, we rock in complex solid geometry, assembly modeling and drawing.
Some of our design work is shown in the Slide Show more The Pro/Engineer Tip-of-the-Month is now available via e-mail. Get it Here This Pro/Engineer Tip (and our growing ) is here to help increase Pro/Engineer modeling and CAD design capabilities for everyone interested. Enjoy the tips, and tell a friend if you like what you see. Pro/Engineer May 2004 Tip-of-the-Month
A Simple Trick to Make the Required Dimension
One of the nice aspects of Pro/E is the ability to display model information on a drawing namely sketcher info. To really harness this, sketches should have dimensions reflecting the intent. Buzz words for this are *Dimensioning Scheme* and *Design Intent* . When the dimensioning scheme reflects the design intent, drawings are quick and easy to create. Sometimes it is not so easy. A simple case is the symmetrical part. For this example, consider a situation where the base features of the part have symmetry about a plane.

103. History Of ChEn: What Is A Chemical Engineer?
Great introduction to what it means to be a chemical engineer.
http://www.pafko.com/history/h_whatis.html
What is a Chemical Engineer?
a) An Engineer who manufactures chemicals,
b) A Chemist who works in a factory, or
c) A glorified Plumber
This is actually a trick question as the correct answer is d) "None of the above." (Note however that chemical engineering students bored with the relentless "pipe-flow example" during fluid dynamics class may begin to think of themselves as simply "glorified plumbers".) The first two incorrect answers make sense based upon the narrow sounding title; "chemical engineer." Surely such a person must be either a "chemist who builds things", or an "engineer who makes chemicals". Yet, the English language has never really made any sense and the name "chemical engineer" is a case in point. "Enough already... go to the bottom
All Right, So What is a Chemical Engineer?
It is true that chemical engineers are comfortable with chemistry , but they do much more with this knowledge than just make chemicals. In fact, the term "chemical engineer" is not even intended to describe the type of work a chemical engineer performs. Instead it is meant to reveal what makes the field different from the other branches of engineering All engineers employ mathematics, physics, and the engineering art to overcome technical problems in a safe and economical fashion

Special Report JOHNSON SPACE CENTER, Texas (CNN) An e-mail passed between NASA engineers two days before the fatal breakup of the space shuttle Columbia discussed worst-case scenarios involving tiles on the orbiter's underbelly that may have been damaged shortly after liftoff, specifically dealing with failures during descent. Robert Daugherty, an engineer, outlined several scenarios in his e-mail to David Lechner, who worked with the shuttle's mechanical systems. They were based on possible outcomes of tile damage the orbiter may have suffered only 80 seconds after it lifted off from Kennedy Space Center January 16. When they analyzed video of the liftoff a day later, NASA officials noticed what they believe was a piece of foam breaking off the external tank and glancing off the underside of the shuttle's left wing.
