I'd also agree with Sharon on the film "Long Walk Home". I liked that it wasn't very sentimentalized, but showed people acting as real people do - well-intended, at times, liberals who think they're being kind, and normal, everyday people pushed to the limit by circumstances. First Year Required
Most of the work for the first year is required. There are several reasons for this. One reason is that there are some basic principles which any serious and thoughtful student would choose to study early in his or her career. The study of this fairly traditional material has become one of the experiences shared by almost all lawyers. Also, knowledge of all the materials to which the student is exposed makes it somewhat easier for first-year instructors to plan a program which minimizes overlapping presentations. By restricting elections in the first year, the School is able to keep the first-year students together in groups of about 90. The logistics of scheduling 90-person groups is much more manageable under restricted elections than it would be in an environment in which elections varied widely.
The required curriculum is presented to four sections of students. One section begins in early summer; the other three sections begin in early fall. Courses include:

tennesseans should not execute gregory thompson
there's a handful of execution dates set in Tennessee. August 19 is Gregory Thompson's Gregory is mentally ill. Tennesseans are medicating him so that he will be competent enough to be executed. Please take a moment to sign an online petition asking Tennessee Governor Phil Bredesen to commute his sentence to life in prison. To: Tennessee Governor Bredesen For over four centuries Western civilization has understood it is wrong to execute those who are mentally crippled, insane or otherwise of unsound mind. There is no dispute over Greg Thompson’s mental illness. Schizophrenia prevents Greg from understanding that the State of Tennessee is about to kill him for that crime. The people of Tennessee do not want the execution of an indisputably mentally ill man to be committed in their name.

by Curtis A. Bradley [FNa1]
Chicago Journal of International Law, Fall 2001
Many international law scholars have assumed that the rise of international human rights litigation in US courts is an unequivocally positive development. In this essay, I will suggest that, notwithstanding its understandable appeal, this litigation entails significant domestic costs, and possibly international costs as well. These costs, like the benefits of international human rights litigation, are difficult to measure and probably vary from case to case. If nothing else, however, the existence of these costs may suggest that courts should await specific guidance from Congress before allowing further expansions of this litigation.
