INTUITIVE RECORDS - IRCD 003 PLEASE NOTE: EVEN THOUGH THE BOOKLET IS NOT PRINTED IN HIGH RESOLUTION, THE ILLUSTRATIONS ARE BETTER IN THE PRINTED VERSION. DANISH INTUITIVE MUSIC The Group for Intuitive Music originated in 1974 around the Copenhagen University Institute of Music with Jørgen Lekfeldt and his piano teacher, Elisabeth Klein, as the founder members. Carl Bergstrøm-Nielsen, Anders Keiding and Niels Rosing-Schow, also students at the same place, joined the group. Pieces from Stockhausen's verbally notated collections From the Seven Days and For Times to Come constituted the group's first repertoire. Soon, however, it developed into a composer-performer group giving regular concert series. They focused on free, sometimes graphic compositions giving many kinds of frameworks for improvised performance. Excerpt from Madison Music by Jørgen Lekfeldt. The wawing lines are originally blue and red. Madison Music was composed during a journey to the USA and depicts both hectic activity and its counterpart of calmly wawing lines. The two versions here have been created independently of each other. The work is dedicated to Ivan Vincze.

  • To Each his Own Stamp Danish art has seldom attracted attention in other European countries. Neither individually nor in schools have our artists achieved anything that can compare with the greatest works that figure in the international history of art. Nevertheless there is a perceptible line of development in the art of this country that reaches its own zeniths. These deserve to be known in wider circles; that they are not so is because Denmark is relatively remote from the main European centers of culture. Danish artists have been active in Denmark for hundred of years but for a long period it was a matter of only a few individual artists and in no sense a real Danish school of art. This was not to emerge until relatively late at the beginning of the nineteenth century when the Danish Golden Age started. Early History The oldest evidence of Danish visual art and handicraft stems from the Mesolithic Maglemose Culture (Approx. 9300-6800 BC). The art materials are bones, and in the years before the birth of Christ, followed by ceramic and bronze.

From Poltergeist (1989) a more natural and spontaneous compositional style breaks out. In the more recent pieces he has been working with more fundamental musical phenomenons like tonality and pulse and he is still inspired by the post-Pythagorean idea of a musical continuum between the musical parameters. He is also working on a 43-minute orchestral work, which has as a compositional goal a synthesis between the usually polarised notions of tonality and atonality, or technically expressed between dodecaphonic and spectral composition. His music is published by Edition Wilhelm Hansen. Additional information at schirmer.com:
