  • Solvents (water) Pigments (titanium dioxide for white paint) Binders (polymer latex) Extenders Additives
Solvents Solvents are low viscous, clear liquids that give the paint a suitable texture (viscosity) so that it can be manufactured and applied. They all evaporate in open air. The type of solvent determines application properties, drying time and flashpoint of the wet paint. Pigments Pigment is added to paints for three main reasons:
  • to inhibit (stop or slow down) corrosion to cover (or hide) the substrate to allow colour to be added to the painted film
General pigments used in paint are titanium dioxide (TiO2) for white and iron oxide (Fe2O3) for red. Pigmented coatings are extremely important on steel and other metallic substrates as they slow down corrosion by increasing the time it takes water to reach the substrate.

    52. On The Typological Evolution Of The Danish Morphological System
An instant of grammatical composition is indeed observed in the definite forms ofDanish nouns in the Singular, eg sveden ‘the sweat’, vand-et ‘the water
    http://users.cybercity.dk/~nmb3879/article.html
On the Typological Evolution of the Danish Morphological System Prof. Vulf Plotkin, D.Sc. vulf@iimath.com ABSTRACT: The highly analyticized Danish language has developed a morphological feature found in other formerly synthetic languages undergoing analyticization, namely composite word-forms, in which the auxiliary and the lexical element are joined as the two parts of a grammatical compound. Such compounds are built in Danish with the postfixed definite article -en/-et and the Present tense marker -er , which explains the retention of the stød in their first components. Like any participant in a compound, these auxiliaries are also used as separate words, namely the indefinite article en/et and the link-verb er , respectively. The positionally determined variability of the correlated grammatical meanings conveyed by these auxiliaries is in full accordance with the basic features of analytical typology. 1. BACKGROUND The evolution of both Germanic and Romance languages in the past two millennia was determined by a typological trend towards analyticization. Given the number and diversity of the languages involved and the vastness of the area they cover, this trend has naturally found a variety of linguistic manifestations, some of which characterize each of the two language groups as a whole, while others are confined to certain groupings within them or to individual languages. There are also significant differences, both between the two language groups and within them, concerning dynamic interaction between the diametrically opposite typological trends of analyticization and syntheticization. Those trends are in fact vectors directed towards the two poles of a typological continuum, in which both forces are never completely at rest. In a predominantly synthetic language analytical formations will emerge from time to time, but they might fail to gain sufficient ground in the synthetic paradigms and will then undergo gradual erosion, ending up as inflected forms with the auxiliary reduced to an affix. A strong trend towards re-syntheticization is sometimes observed even in a language that has gone far in abandoning its former synthetic features and has reached a rather high degree of analyticization.

Over and above this, the responses from the researchers and research enterprises, together with searches of the literature on relevant databases, form the background for the classified bibliography in chapter 5. In general terms the research is placed in three areas: research on the population's attitudes towards the welfare society, research on problem-generating mechanisms and the effects of efforts in specific areas, and research on the welfare state's organisational and administrational composition. Within each of these general themes there is a great number of sub-themes. It is clear that other general themes could have been used, and that in certain instances a case could have been made for another organization of sub-themes; likewise discussion of the individual projects in a number of cases could have occurred under a different sub-theme. The individual projects have been selected on the basis of annual reports and responses from researchers and research enterprises. Discussion of projects solely encompasses projects which have been in progress since 1990 inclusive, to the present day. The subsequent summary of the research within the individual main themes and subjects is based on discussion of the projects in chapter 4 and the classified bibliography to which reference is therefore made, as it is not possible in a summary to include all aspects.

Residential Mobility in Danish Problem Housing Estates Brian Krogh Graversen, Hans Hummelgaard, Dorte Lemmich, Jørgen Blæsdahl Nielsen, December 1997, AKF
    Introduction
For more than twenty years now, Danish society has become increasingly divided. This is particularly the case in Denmark as in other western countries in the towns and cities where the concentration of ethnic minorities and socially disadvantaged groups has risen in certain housing estates (often called problem housing estates or ghettos). This development has taken place in Denmark in spite of the equalising effects of comprehensive welfare policy. The social processes and other conditions that have created this state of affairs pose a central problem for society and research. In and out-migration of different types of residents are important factors in determining how the composition of residents develops over time in the different housing estates. Residential mobility among residents may also influence the ease or difficulty of involving residents in activities in the housing estate and, inter alia by this means, of building up stable social networks. The residents will supposedly exercise less effort in building up social relations in the housing estate if there is a large likelihood that they themselves or their neighbours are likely to move within a short time. This memo focuses on residential mobility, and a statistical model for residential mobility is presented for identifying the factors of importance for out-migration from the problem housing estates. Out-migration is crucial to the stability of the housing estates; it is also a clearer research task to set up a model for out-migration than for in-migration. However, the memo does also present an empirical description of the latter as in-migration is also important for the development in the composition of residents.

Early in 1998 the Authority's homepage http://www.ks.dk/ became the primary source of information from the Authority. All decisions from the Council and the Energy Price Committees are normally published in full - including detailed particulars of cases - on the homepage. Publication on the homepage takes place, immediately after the cases have been decided.
Other information is also published on the homepage - and only on the homepage. Such information includes i.a. decisions by the Appeals Board of Competition, decisions from the Complaints Board for Public Procurement and the merger statistics of the Authority. Moreover, on the homepage it is possible to find all Authority publications, at the latest at the same time as they are published on paper.
The media have an important role when the public is to be informed about the activities and decisions of the Authority. Press releases are therefore used extensively.

In the last hundred years there build a lot of bridges, as replacement for boats and ferries. However its not all islands where its possible (of economic reasons) to build bridges to, so you will still be able to find a lot ferries in Danish waters.
I spotted this old ferry in the harbour of Marstal on the island Aeroe . Egeskov was build in 1937 and in use until 1999. Now it seams to be used for leisure and short trips with tourist.
It was the reflections of the blue line, which attracted my eyes - and I think my camera was able capture the extreme blue colour - but it took some shots ;-).
