Welcome
John Flaherty Photography. Welcome to Hop to the Beat Dance Studio. We are based in the Boston, Massachusetts, USA area and specialize in Lindy Hop. Lindy Hop is the original form of swing/jitterbug partner dancing. It is danced to all tempos of swing music, from the 1920s hot jazz and smokin' blues, through '50s Rock 'n' Roll, to some of today's popular tunes. With a character all its own, fun and exuberant, Lindy Hop is hard to resist! We offer a complete program including a full range of classes from absolute beginner on up, friendly dances for all levels, an International Lindy Hop Workshop Series , our annual Beantown Lindy Hop Summer Camp and Northeast Lindy Hop Championships performances , and many other Lindy Hop related events. Hop to the Beat Dance Studio also offers regular classes in Hip Hop . Danced to contemporary music, it's the kind of non-partner dancing often seen in today's music videos.

Southern California Dance and Directory
Compiled by Louise Reichlin
Mirror site at Southern California Dance and Directory
Welcome to Southern California's link with many of the dance sites on the Web . We are located on a server at USC. I wanted others to become aware of Southern California, specifically the greater Los Angeles area, as a dance center. I have heard that we have more dancers and choreographers than any city in the world, and sometimes when I travel 50 miles for a performance and it is still called local, I am reminded of the wealth of cultures and forms of dance, both professional and community, in our sprawling global city. Southern California Dance Directory of the professional companies and the dance service organizations in our area. It quickly came to include other dance organizations that are important for dance in education and dance therapy, as well as organizations of great help assisting dance companies in Los Angeles. I cannot support extended information in these pages about everyone, but I will begin with the names of companies and director and will give an e-mail or contact #'s when available. There will also be information about Dance at the University of Southern California and about my own company with performing units and Zapped Taps(tm)/Alfred Desio . I also want to call your attention to the most up-to-date events Our newest feature is our quicktime videos.

The Dance-Technology Zone is currently in transition. During the next few months, we're reviewing and updating content, as well as creating a whole new site structure to hold it all. While we are under construction, content on this site will not be actively maintained, so it is now essentially an archive. The new site will be located at dancetechnology.org (or dot-com). It will combine material from the DTZ with the archives of the dance-tech list as well as new material. Rupert Brooke, The Soldier England may be a tiny rain-sodden speck off the coast of Northern Europe but she has a unique cultural tradition. The concept of England as a multicultural society is nothing new. We have been one since the Romans came, and it is this very cultural diversity that gives us such a rich and varied heritage. English culture is a living tradition and successive generations of English folk have been proud to embrace their cultural heritage. Such quintessentially English sights as Morris Dancers performing outside a village pub on long summer evenings are testament to this. Many organizations are preserving the past, our goal is to preserve the present. We have embarked on an ongoing project to record as much contemporary English Folk Dance music as possible, to make it as widely available as we can, and to promote the dance-forms wherever the opportunity arises.
