Join Students around the World in this Environmental Study! From September 9 until November 15, 2002 , students will team up around the globe to test fresh water. Join us in this collaborative project, comparing the water quality of your local river, stream, lake or pond with other fresh water sources around the world. The focus of the project is:
  • To assess the quality of water based on physical characteristics and chemical substances. To look for relationships and trends among the data collected by all project participants.
All students are welcome to participate, however, it is recommended for high school students (ages 14-18) due to the nature of the tests required for the project. There is no fee to participate, however, please read the " Important Information " and " Requirements " areas prior to registering for participation.

  • Each teacher participating as a Fellow in an Institute seminar prepares a curriculum unit to be taught in the following year. These units are intended primarily for use by Fellows and their colleagues who teach in the New Haven Public Schools, but they also provide concrete examples of ways in which teachers have drawn material from Institute seminars for use in their own school courses. Guides to the curriculum units prepared each year consist of synopses written by their authors and contain recommendations of the school courses and grade levels where the units may best apply.
  • Index
    A topical index of all the units written since 1978 lists them according to the three or four main topics each unit addresses.
  • Reference Lists
    These annotated Lists were compiled by New Haven teachers, for New Haven teachers. They correlate Institute-developed curriculum units with subjects and curriculum standards for various grade levels in New Haven's public schools.
