Who's your favorite Beatle? With the book The Beatles Anthology hitting number one on the best-seller list and sales of the band's album 1 making The Beatles the highest grossing pop band of 2000, that question is as pertinent as ever.
If you ask Excite.com, the most beloved Beatle is John, with 13,422,425 websites devoted to or mentioning him. George is second with 5,215,061 sites, and Paul comes in third with 4,707,969 "cute one" Web shrines. Only 254,870 webpages honor forever-underrated Ringo.
For a small taste of some of the wackier or more interesting URLs, check out:
John Lennon's FBI files at www.lennonfbifiles.com Learn exactly why Nixon and the Hooverites viewed him as a threat to national security.
Paul McCartney death sites, including www.angelfire.com/ct/scrmgdasys/index.html and catless.ncl.ac.uk/obituary/paul.html . These pages build arguments for an X-Files-esque conspiracy to cover up Sir Paul's rumored death.  Gorgeous George Harrison at www.geocities.com/hollywood/

Regional Arts Organizations Strive to Maintain Business As Usual
Local and International Events Impact Attendance, Fundraising
    By Rebecca Mills
    Arts Washington, May 2003
The staff of Washington DC’s Arena Stage attributes the current hardships on the region’s arts organizations to “the three S’s”: the sniper, the snowstorms, and Saddam. Many nonprofits have become victims of the general sense of uncertainty that has taken over the entire country in this time of war. Washington area arts organizations have mostly been affected in two areas: audience attendance and fundraising. Most organizations that are based outside of the District have not reported a large drop in attendance. Chuck Benjamin of the Olney Theatre Center for the Arts attributes his venue’s continued strong attendance to the fact that it is off the beaten path from the District and therefore not considered by the public to be a high-risk area for terrorism. Similarly, Jim Byers of the Arlington County Cultural Affairs Division said fear of terrorist activity hasn’t reduced audiences at Arlington’s performing arts spaces, because many of them are in lower profile areas. Organizations with spaces within the District seem to have been more affected attendance-wise. Arena Stage’s Maggie Boland said that her theatre was affected during the Code Orange alerts of recent months, because many major school systems didn’t allow children to travel into the District, canceling field trips to Arena and causing loss of revenue.
