Recent Ratings of Quebec XC Areas Many of Quebec's 130-plus cross-country ski areas are located in the Laurentians north of Montreal and in the Quebec city region. Some of the more popular destinations are Gatineau Park (#9), Far Hills (#31) and Mont Sainte Anne (#106). Note: Many of Quebec's ski centres use the "overlap" method of calculating their total trail lengths. Lengths of each trail are measured from the central lodge rather than from where they branch off other trails. Total lengths of trails listed on these pages are as advertised by the centres. Actual totals with no overlap are often less than half of the claimed amount.

The hilly terrain offers views of virgin pine where catching a glimpse of our majestic moose, timid timber wolf or snowshoe rabbit can make a ski a cherished memory. A 1.5 km loop starting at the lodge is softly lit for night skiing. Trails fees are on a daily or seasonal basis and include parking and colored trail maps. All trails are double tracked with about 15 km designated as skating trails. No pets are allowed on the trail system. We do offer skis for rent along with lessons. [

Cross Country Skiing... Keweenaw Style To Check Conditions- Click Here With a growing awareness of the environment, human-powered activity is becoming a key concept in recreation. There is no better place than the beautiful Keweenaw Peninsula to enjoy such activity. Here you'll find a majestic terrain threaded with ski trails that overlook lakes, cross meadows, and travel through stands of virgin timber. There are rugged trails for the bold and skillful as well as more gentle trails that allow you to enjoy the northern splendor at your own pace. Miles and miles of groomed and ungroomed trails take the skier on adventures most people only imagine. During the winter months in the Keweenaw, hardly a day goes by without fresh snow. Nevertheless, the sun is no stranger. The average temperature is around twenty degrees Fahrenheit and only occasionally dips below zero. The average snowfall is 250 inches (more than 21 feet). The season often ranges from November well into April. For information on specific trails, just click on one of the links below.

    SANDBANKS PROVINCIAL PARK
Cross Country Ski Trails Trail Sandbanks Provincial Park has excellent trails for both beginners and experienced skiers. The majority of the 11 km's of tracked trails consist of gentle slopes and curves. At 6 km's , the yellow trail is the longest. (See the 'Trail Distance Chart' below). Combining several of the smaller loops allows skiers to set their own lengths. See detailed map of ski trails. Chalet Even the hardest of cross country skiers appreciates a warm fire and a cup of hot cocoa after an exhilarating run on the trails. The Friends of Sandbanks maintain the Ski Chalet and keep it stocked up on the essentials. Stop in and get acquainted with your fellow skiers. Rules In order to ensure the enjoyment of the trails by all users... we ask that you follow a few basic rules while skiing at Sandbanks. Please do not walk on the tracked trails. Footprints damage the tracks laid out by the grooming machine. Also, we ask that you keep your dogs off the groomed trails. Pets, however, are welcome in other areas of the park but should be leashed, at all times. Help us maintain the trails and facilities by leaving them the way you found them. Fee A suggested donation of $1.00/day (adults) and $.50/day (youth) would be greatly appreciated. All donations received go directly to the maintenance of the trails and chalet.
