Allthough ninjutsu was practicing in Croatia since 1986. ( Dean Rostohar ), it wasn't until 1990. when the art officially took roots here. It all began with the first ninjutsu seminar, held by Dominik - Dado and Sasha Tesic . Since then a small gruop of enthusiasts trains the art. Unfortunatelly, a few so called "masters" appeared in public, but they vanished in a short period.
Some of Shihan Rostohar's students, now instructors The warrior arts school " Bujinkan Seishin Dojo - Croatia The School of the Divine Warrior with sincere heart "), was founded in 1993. by the request and guidance of Soke Hatsumi . Teachers and instructors of the Dojo trained and learned in many seminars in Japan and Europe.
It is the only true school of ninjutsu in Croatia under Bujinkan organization. Today there are two dojos in Croatia: the main dojo in Zagreb, Bujinkan Seishin Dojo Pakrac and Bujinkan Seishin Dojo Vrbovec. There is also a section in Osijek. (For the details see "

History through the Nineteenth Century
A part of the Roman province of Pannonia, Croatia was settled in the 7th cent. by Croats, who accepted Christianity in the 9th cent. A kingdom from the 10th cent., Croatia conquered surrounding districts, including Dalmatia, which was chronically contested with Venice. Croatia's power reached its peak in the 11th cent., but internecine strife facilitated its conquest in 1091 by King Ladislaus I of Hungary. In 1102 a pact between his successor and the Croatian tribal chiefs established a personal union of Croatia and Hungary under the Hungarian monarch. Although Croatia remained linked with Hungary for eight centuries, the Croats were sometimes able to choose their rulers independently of Budapest. In personal union with Hungary, Croatia retained its own diet and was governed by a ban, or viceroy. After the battle of MohAcs in 1526 most of Croatia came under Turkish rule. In 1527 the Croatian feudal lords agreed to accept the Hapsburgs as their kings in return for common defense and retention of their privileges. During the following century Croatia served as a Hapsburg outpost in the defense of central Europe from a Turkish onslaught.

Preromanesque art of Croatia
http://www.early-croatian-art.net/ Across the coastal regions of Croatia, there are many monuments from early medieval times, dating from the periods of Late Antiquity to the Romanesque. This historic epoch in Europe has left us with little authentic monuments. However, this period is a very important part of the history of Croatian architecture and art. A hundred churches from Istria to Boka Kotorska bay are evidence of the Early Croatian artistic expression. We hope that through these pages we will give you an accurate representation and bring closer to you, the art which we enjoy so much!

Did you know the country boasts many Roman ruins? That for centuries Croatia successfully warred against Venice for control of the eastern Adriatic? That the neck tie (cravat) is of Croatian origin? Croatians are proud of their heritage, and there are many fine websites available because of this! Dubrovnik is a very old port city in southern Dalmatia. This is a collection of articles on the history, culture, and daily life of medieval Croatia. HISTORY OF THE CROATIAN STATE
Croatia enjoys a rich political and cultural history, marked by the following moments: Emergence of Croatian Statehood
Croats arrived in their present homeland in the 7th century AD.
In 679, Croats entered into a treaty with Pope Agatho, and Croats accepted Christianity during the rule of Prince Viseslav in 800.
Viceroy Trpimir, an ancestor of the Croatian dynasty of Trpimirovic, ruled Dalmatian Croatia. In a letter dated 852, the name Hrvat (Croat) was recorded for the first time on the Adriatic coast.
Pope John VII blessed the Croatian Prince Branimir, Croatian clergy and Croatian people in St. Peter Church in Rome on May 21, 879, proclaiming the first international recognition of Croatia.
Croatia first emerged as a nation-state in 925 when Ban Tomislav, united Pannonian and Dalmatian Croatia and was crowned the first Croatian King.
In 1094 the Bishopric of Zagreb was founded. Under the archdiocese of Ostrogon until 1180, and the archdiocese of Kalocza from 1180 to 1152, Zagreb was in 1852 elevated to the rank of an independent archdiocese.
The Baska tablet, one of the oldest and most valuable texts in the Croatian language and Glagolic script, was written in 1100. It details land that King Zvonimir gave to the abbey of St. Lucia in Draga Bascanska and the construction of the St. Lucia Church.

President Franjo Tudjman's Horrors of War launched at Croatian Embassy Horrors of War first appeared in 1989 as "Bespuca povijesne zbiljnosti: Rasprava o povijesti i filozofiji zlosilja" in the Croatian language. This is the seventh edition of the book. This translation will provide the English speaking world an opportunity to read for the first time President Tudjman's views as a democratic dissident without the distortion or bias previously translated editions have included. At the Embassy ceremony last November, Dr. Miomir Zuzul, Croatia's Ambassador to the United States, said it was an honor to be able to present Horrors of War to the President. "President Tudjman's erudition and firsthand experience of the horrors of war are interwoven into his study of philosophy and the role of violence in history," Ambassador Zuzul commented, adding that "his experience as a participant in the anti-fascist movement during the Second World War was crucial in forging peace in Bosnia and Herzegovina during the Washington and Dayton Accords." The Honorable Thomas Patrick Melady, former U.S. Ambassador to the Holy See, said he was honored to have written the introduction to the book, adding that it is important that the whole world be acquainted with Croatian history: not just its recent history and the suffering during the Second World War and under Communism, but also the history of the 18th and 19th centuries.

The AUSTRO-HUNGARIAN AUSGLEICH of 1867 recreated a strong autonomous administration in Budapest, dominated by Hungary's landowning nobility. A similar Hungaro-Croatian Ausgleich, the NAGODBA, was signed in 1868. The Hungarian administration, in charge of the old Hungarian Kingdom which included Slovakia, Transylvania, and as an annex the old Kingdom of Croatia (except Dalmatia), despite the Nagodba now introduced a policy of MAGYARIZATION.
Croatian nationalists felt betrayed in a double sense - not only were they not rewarded for their loyalty to the Habsburg dynasty in 1848/49, when they helped suppress the Hungarian revolt, but now they were subjected to a Magyar administration in a way they had never been before in history, throughout 7 and a half centuries of dynastic union with Hungary. In addition, Dalmatia was treated as an annex to Austria and thus subject to a policy of Germanization, although less rigorous than the Magyarization in Croatia-Slavonia.
Croatian nationalists and liberals strove for a Croatian Ausgleich which would restore Croatia's territorial union with Dalmatia and would grant them the political autonomy, save their cultural identity from the Magyar threat. However, the chances to achieve these seemed remote. A number of Croatian patriots saw the only hope of Croatian independence in a Croatian-Serb federation - YUGOSLAVISM.
