DISCIPLINE PHILOSOPHY Appleton East High School maintains the highest expectations and recognizes the potential of all students. To help achieve this, the district encourages respect and cooperation among all members of the school family-students, parents, teachers, and administrators. Discipline procedures are necessary so that the rights of everyone are protected. Students are responsible for their own individual actions as well as their actions when part of a group. They are expected to respect the rights of all other students and school staff members. Further, students are required to attend school regularly, arrive on time, bring appropriate materials, participate in class, and complete homework assignments. Parents are vital to any discipline process. They play a major role in developing the behavior of their children because the parent is the child’s first teacher and remains the most important one. The school encourages the involvement and support of parents in the discipline process.
