Worldwide Digital Resources - internet This table will bring you to lists containing -some or a lot- links leading you to data from (primary) resources all over the world. You mostly will find meta-links in this table. My survey is for sure not complete, but I hope it will give you a good startingpoint searching for interesting information. At the moment it is still difficult to find primary data, especially when you are looking in foreign countries. I hope more people are going to make extensive lists for specific countries/regions as I did for the Netherlands and Belgium. Please send me (worldwide) additional meta-links and/or your comments! House prices vary enormously across the country. The regions within Englandare further divided up into counties. contact the genealogy team.
http://www.quorndon.com/genealogy/location-guide.html
Quorn Village - A Quick Geographical Guide Quorn is one of a large number of terrestrial villages on this good-looking planet. It lies in the Northern Hemisphere, on a large island called Great Britain. Great Britain is part of a much larger geographical area called Europe.
Politically, countries within Europe are moving towards a common state, and most European countries are already using the same currency. At the moment, lots of different languages are spoken throughout Europe, but English is predominantly spoken in Britain. The reddy-brown island on the right map shows mainland Britain.
Great Britain's history has been pretty wild. It's been invaded loads of times over the last few thousand years, but things have settled down quite a bit since then. It was once the most northern point of the Roman empire, and substantial parts of a stone wall still exist in the north. The Romans were very pragmatic - they couldn't conquer the Scots and there was little they wanted from Scotland, so they simply built a wall from the east coast to the west coast (some history books say it was built from the west coast to the east coast). Today it would be much more difficult to get planning agreement. The red dot on the map on the left shows the approximate position of Quorn Village - more on that later.
Great Britain is comprised of three countries - England, Scotland, and Wales. People born in these countries are English, Scottish, or Welsh. These are all part of one island. The United Kingdom (UK) comprises Great Britain and Northern Ireland, part of the large island off the coast to the west. The Republic of Ireland (shown light-green) is not actually part of the UK, but English is generally spoken there, and they serve the best Guinness in the world. Irish girls are also extremely pretty.

PART 3. COUNTRY-OF-ORIGIN RECORDS You will generally be more successful in learning an immigrant's place of origin with records of the country of arrival. However, some researchers do find the immigrant's hometown in country-of-origin records, especially for uncommon surnames in countries with nationwide indexes or where adequate emigration lists exist. Generally you must know at least the country the emigrant left before you can begin searching these records. If nothing else, you should be able to find that information in country-of-arrival records. In a few cases, you may be able to begin if you know only that the emigrant came from Europe, Scandinavia, or Great Britain. However, get as much information as possible from country-of-arrival records. Search Tactics There are many record types you can use when searching in country-of-origin records. However, they are all not equally valuable. Most record types are best used together with other record types as part of a search strategy that includes one or more tactics. The following discussion of search tactics is based on a comprehensive strategy of narrowing the possible places where an emigrant may have come from. Search records and indexes covering a large area first. Next search records that might narrow the possible locations until you have found the right one. Information and clues in the records of the immigrant's new country determine which tactics to use when searching the records of the old country. The following tactics can help you systematically search country-of-origin records. Whenever you learn new information, reconsider which tactic to apply next.
