My son was born understanding the principles of mathematics; he could subtract at 18mos, multiply at 3 - though i didn't push him at all. It just made sense to him. But 4 years of ABeka, BJ and Saxon in public and private school settings had him convinced he was bad at math and he grew to despise it. With Singaport Math he occasionally even enjoys it now. He did have some trouble with all the word problems in the beginning, so i set the math aside for a week or so, and started him in a critical thinking workbook to jump-start his brain.
