They also posed the problem to determine the value of and conjectured that for all Despite the efforts of many mathematicians, the Erdos-Szekeres problem is still far from being solved. This paper surveys the known results and questions related to the Erdos-Szekeres problem in the plane and higher dimensions, as well as its generalizations for the cases of families of convex bodies and the abstract convexity setting. Curriculum: Christian Light (CLE) Sunrise Math
    Subject: Math
    Grade level: used Gr.1-3
    Review:
I wanted to highly recommend this curriculum for math. Christian Light Education has redone their original math (other subjects too) into a totally new curriculum. They call it the Sunrise Edition.
It uses the spiral approach and I really appreciate the ease with which they develop a great number of concept for the child. I wish this had been around when my first two kids were little. In the first grade, children are introduced to simple fractions, story problems (right from grade one on), time, skip counting (which makes later multiplication easy), money, number lines, graphing, temperature, and the concept of congruency, and much more. The spiral effect keeps all of these concepts in mind while learning new things. There is enough practice that I have not needed to add more drill for any of the 3 kids using the program.
A great deal can be done independently once a concept is understood, although a child will need some of your time each day. For example, in the first grade there are story problems right from day 4if you have a kid who is only learning to read you read it to them. This develops listening skills too. Lessons are of appropriate length.

Previous Survey Quotes Index Next Stop hopscotching from one topic to another (59) ... Emphasize reasoning and problem-solving (38) Stop hopscotching from one topic to another: 2 Also teachers need to make sure that the children understand each math instruction prior to learning a new one. 1 More time. Ability or avenue for children to move on and build on skills or to work in an area until mastered. Need lots of take home extra work for parents to assist if want. 4 The program needs to have some logic providing a continuum and an opportunity for students to practice skills rather than hopscotching from simple addition to decimals to fractions to metric to fractions to units of measurement 2 Less redundancy from one grade level to the next for students who have mastered the material 4 Focus. More on one concept before moving on K Continuity 5 At times, there are mixed assignments with algebra, and then the next night very simplistic decimal concepts. I don't see a pattern. 3 Q7: Jumping to the next "math procedure" too quickly. No time to understand and process the true "math" of arithmetic, division, etc. They aren't learning math, they are memorizing algorithms.
