124. Tumacacori NHP: Welcome
This website is the indepth site for the Mission NHP, and contains information about costuming, events and access to the Mission 2000 online database of inhabitants of the area during the period the mission was in existence. The website has a picture tour of the park, as well as information on Father Kino and related missions in the area.
http://www.nps.gov/tuma/home.htm

Making History Come Alive Welcome to the "in depth" portion of the official Web site for tells the story of the first Europeans who came to southern Arizona and of the native people who lived here then. It is a dramatic story from any perspective: at stake was not only basic survival but hearts and minds. And yet even then, each new day brought birdsong and breakfast to native, priest, settler, and soldier alike. All changed bit by bit as the days unfolded, until a vigorous new culture blending elements from ristras to rosaries was born. Visitors appreciate this special place for the opportunity to tour the mission church, cemetery and outlying structures and grounds in a peaceful and quiet atmosphere reminiscent of the period in which they were established. Photographers especially enjoy the earth colors and shadows of the mission buildings. The mission courtyard and garden just off the visitor center provide a peaceful, quiet place to relax and reflect. Many bird species are seen at the mission due to its proximity to the Santa Cruz river. A short quarter mile hike to the river could be rewarding to bird watching enthusiasts.

Eva's costuming page
Hi and welcome to my costuming page!

My closet and personal space in the international community of costuming fanatics.
It will contain mainly pictures of and articles relating to historical costume from the middle ages and the renaissance. However, I will not limit myself to this, but occasionally make little excursions into other periods as well.
Well, who am I then?
Well, as stated above; my name is Eva, the whole name being Eva I Andersson. I'm also known as Fru Aleydis by a lot of people, mainly from the medieval group Nordrike.
I live in Gothenburg, Sweden. I'm married and have twin daughters born in August 1994 and a baby girl born the 12 of May 2004.. This is me, Rickard, Vendela (in yellow)and Valeria(in blue) at the latest Ragnhild's Collegium in Septmeber 2003. I am currently working at the Department of History at Gothenburg University and plan to finish my doctoral thesis by the end of 2005. The subject is (surprise!) medieval clothing in Sweden and Norway. I enjoy my work much and one of the reasons is my wonderful roommates
Apart from history and costuming I have some other interests too. Most of my free time is spent doing things with the local medieval group

MEDIEVAL COSTUMES from The Drama Teacher's Resource Room Medieval armor can be made by spray-painting a knitted garment silver! Use a knit stitch (knit every row, as opposed to knit a row, purl a row) to create the item and spray with Flora-Life (florist supply store). Flora-Life has potent fumes. Use a respirator or spray outdoors. To add detail to a garment create the texture with a glue gun and then paint the dried glue with silver or gold fabric paint or markers. You can also create great texture by using the same technique to highlight a pattern in the fabric or trim. INTERNET RESOURCES
GladRags.com: Fashion and costume
April 1999
Vol. 60, No.4 by Monica Fusich A wealth of information on fashion and costume resources exists on the Internet. Both the contemporary nature of fashion as well as the historical aspect of costume are extremely well served by the visual and hypertext medium of the Internet.
The fashion industry and fashion devotees have created sites that provide access to runway shows, designers, models, trade information, and current events. Costume historians have designed sites that can be used to research costumes, locate visuals, and document the creation of accurate historical garments. The culture of fashion, costume, and the Internet has successfully converged to offer unique, innovative, and informative Web sites. Individuals first used the Internet as a vehicle for disseminating opinions and images on fashion and costume and created personal homepages on topics such as punk style, makeup, and designers.

Vintage Fabrics IN SEARCH OF WARP ENDS
By Joan Kiplinger Join Joan's Vintage Fabric Discussion List! printer friendly version June/July, 2001: What the observer sees: a splendiferous, flowing gown with bands of sparkling jewels. What the costumer sees: 7 yds. (minimum) of velvet (preferably cotton, patterned if lucky or rich) with wide metallic gold (imported or dime store) braid with pearls (faux or fresh water) and gemstones (glass or semiprecious cut stones or beads) attached (set or sewn by hand, or glued). What the observer sees: an impressive and dignified hourglass shape with arms gracefully curved away from the body and hands resting lightly on the flowing skirt. Around 1500, Hispanic costume (jerkins) had loose roll-like pleats that we call cartridge pleating. These were caught and held in place by being sewn to fabric tapes on the inside of the garment. A wonderful book
