Career Development
Career Awareness Career awareness activities generally take place at the elementary level.  They are designed to make students aware of the broad range of careers and/or occupations in the world of work, including options that may not be traditional for their gender, race of ethnicity.  Career awareness activities range from limited exposure to the world of work, through occasional field trips and classroom speakers, to comprehensive exposure.  The latter may involve curriculum redesign, introduction of students to a wide span of career options, and integration with activities at the middle school level.
Career Exploration
Career exploration generally takes place at the middle school level and is designed to provide some in-depth exposure to career options for students.  Activities may include the study of career opportunities in particular fields to identify potential careers, writing individual learning plans that dovetail with career majors offered at the high school level, or review of local labor market.
Career Exposure
Career exposure can be defined as activities at the high school level that provide actual work experience-connecting classroom learning to work. These activities include Mentoring, Internships, Apprenticeships, and Job Shadowing.

This information is exactly as it was written by the US Government. Remember, it is not precise nor are historical results indicative of the future. Individual results will vary. Our experience is at the higher end of scales due to the higher and more advanced training we offer. Additionally, there is no verifiable documentation to account for commission and tip businesses and therefore it is not always accurately measured. Significant Points
  • Job opportunities for cosmetologists should be favorable due to growing demand for cosmetology services. Barbers, cosmetologists, and most other personal appearance workers must be licensed.

AN ACT TO AMEND §18126 OF CHAPTER 10 OF TITLE 10 GUAM CODE ANNOTATED ADD A NEW §18126.1 TO CHAPTER 10 OF TITLE 10 GUAM CODE ANNOTATED RELATIVE TO MULTIPLE LOCATION COSMETOLOGICAL BUSINESSES.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF GUAM: Section 1. Legislative Findings and Intent.
I Liheslaturan Guåhan finds that the existing laws regarding the licensing of Cosmetological establishments assume that most such businesses are owner-operated at a single location. It is not uncommon in cities with major tourism related economies to have branches of salon type businesses in multiple hotel locations however Guam's laws actually discourage such business activities. I Liheslaturan Guåhan recognizes that importance to maintain the highest health and safety standards by ensuring that all Cosmetological establishments are operated by licensed and trained personnel. It also recognizes the impracticality of requiring each branch of multiple locations Cosmetological business to have its business license and ability to operate tied to a single employee.

National Cosmetology Association
To Lead Salons in Domestic Abuse Outreach
For decades, the National Cosmetology Association (NCA) has led salons, stylists, nail technicians and estheticians in programs to benefit the industry and beyond. From legislative activity to maintain licensure to helping to save professional hair color at a time when outside groups attacked it, to the tens of thousands of cancer patients who have been helped by NCA's work with the Look Good, Feel Better program, NCA has been there for salon professionals and the communities in which they live and work.
To further the community involvement of NCA, its Board of Directors has voted to put the association's strength against another cause in which salons and salon professionals can help those in need-the destructive and potentially deadly issues of domestic abuse and domestic violence.

Monitoring Report
June 1, 2003
Introduction In 1998, Trinidad State Junior College was awarded a ten year accreditation, but with several stipulations. One was to develop and implement an assessment program at the college. In October 2000, a team of consultant-evaluators made a focused visit and concluded that: “with the proper administrative leadership, a serious commitment to documenting and improving student learning, an adequate allocation of resources, and a sufficient investment in professional development, Trinidad State Junior College will devise and implement an effective and comprehensive assessment plan by the year 2003.” Further, the evaluation team decided that because the college assessment committee had made substantial progress in all areas except general education, the college must submit a Monitoring Report by June 1, 2003 on the assessment of student learning. This report includes, as requested, evidence that the college is assessing clearly identified and measurable objectives for learning in all of its classes and that it is using results from these assessments to improve student learning. It further demonstrates that the college has published well-articulated general education objectives and that it has implemented its plan to assess its general education program.
