Here’s a really fun recipe that takes very litttle preparation. This recipe her book “Holiday Hugs”. Jane is an author, speaker, and food stylist. She has written many books that combine fun and imaginative recipes and teaching children important life lessons. Check out her books and the recipe for these snowflakes under the “Quick Fix” button on her site. In addition to using the cinnamon and sugar mixture, I tryed using powder sugar which worked very well. I just put the powdered sugar in a sifter and sifted it over the snowflakes after spraying them with the butter (the kind in the can) The flour tortilla snowfakes were delicious. I also bought small round won ton wraps that worked very well and were also very good.

Well, folks, here it is. I didn't have time to cook this stuff myself for you the way Paul Newman does, so I just wrote up this cookbook to give you all the recipes, tried and true, just like I make 'em in my own kitchen at home.

Chocolate Chip Cookies

seven minutes and nineteen seconds)
  • Frequent flyer coupons
  • One movie ticket stub
  • One medium paperclip
    (not plastic coated)

Now, remember that chocolate-chip cookies are supposed to be a nice, relaxing kind of food, so the first thing you'll want to do to make them is to go somewhere where you can kick back and relax. Ecuador is good, so use your frequent-flyer coupons to pick up a round-trip ticket there. The stewardess will hand you a couple of bags of peanuts, but don't eat them, since we're going to need those for the cookies. You'll find yourself sitting next to an attractive woman who teaches archeology at Cornell; she'll explain that she's going to Ecuador to try to find her fatherbiochemist by trade, but he dabbles in archeology as a hobbywho went down there to find the lost pyramid of Sesquichachloride, well known in archelogical circles as the mythical storehouse of the god Valhequesal who, according to myth, rode down from the skies on a pillar of fire bringing with him a wealth of powerful but somewhat failure-prone magical devices that, according to the priests of the day, were pretty darn all-around nifty.

of 5 Ingredients
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1 cup butter, at room temperature
3/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup granulated sugar 2 eggs 1 tsp. vanilla extract 2 cups rolled oats Kids' Cooking Skills: Use this recipe to teach your child how to customize cookies with favorite ingredients, use a spatula to fold in ingredients, and flatten cookies with a wet glass. Directions 2. In a separate bowl, cream together the butter and both sugars, then beat in the eggs. Stir in the vanilla extract. Finally, stir in the flour mixture. 3. Using a spatula, fold in the rolled oats until thoroughly combined. Pour the desired mix-ins into separate small bowls and ask your child to select and measure 2 1/2 cups total of her favorites. She can then fold her choices into the dough. 4. Use a 1/4-cup measuring cup to transfer the cookie dough onto an ungreased baking sheet (you'll be able to fit about 6 on a sheet). Wet the bottom of a wide glass and press it onto each cookie to flatten it (alternatively, you can flour the bottom of the glass). Bake for 13 to 15 minutes or until lightly brown. Transfer the cookies to a cooling rack and let cool. Makes approximately 22 cookies. TIP: To Prevent the dough from sticking to the glass, wet or flour the bottom of the glass frequently.

Custards, Baked to Perfection
The word custard may not inspire feelings of passion, but at least one of these almost certainly will: pots de crème, crème caramel, crème brulée. Custard, a slow-cooked, pudding-like mixture of sugar, milk and eggs, is the basis for all three of these French classics. As a dessert base, it has few rivals: sweet and rich, it can hold up to almost any flavor addition, from chocolate to vanilla to fruit. And of course, it works just fine on its own. Here, Tina Casaceli, chef-coordinator of the classic pastry arts program at

From easy drop cookies to bars types to shaped varieties, they're a great project to do with kids, and they're probably the most versatile dessert item for entertaining. Sugar cookies are a classic. They can be soft and chewy or a bit harder and crunchy.
Cookies with the icing on top
The various shapes of sugar cookies say "celebrate" like little else. They can be made way ahead and frozen, and you can lightly sprinkle them with granulated sugar or elaborately ice them with different colors of icing. Kids love helping to roll them out and, of course, they enjoy helping to decorate.
