I hope to provide some valuable information on these loveable birds. Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be an abundance of such available, either on or off the net. But, I have found some info that may be of interest to you. Hope you Enjoy!

    Where Are They From?
Conures can be found in most of South and Central America. Some species are also well represented in the West Indies, as well as parts of Mexico. In the wild conures are friendly, peaceful birds and seldom fight with each other. They live together in groups of twenty or more birds, even during the mating season, and feed on various seeds, fruits, and insects. The Many Types There are five genera of conures. A brief description of each follows:
Genus Aratinga This is by far one of the most popular genus of conures. There is some disagreement regarding the actual number of species, but the number seems to be between 15 and 21. The scientific name

http://www.geocities.com/RainForest/Vines/1492/conures.html
Conures!! Species: There are many different species of conures. The majority fall into the genus Aratinga, along with several in the genus Pyrhurra . The others are Nandayus , which is only a single species, the Nanday conure, Enicognathus , which includes the Slender-billed and Austral conures, and Cyanoliensis , the Patagonian conure. Some sources feel that some other well-known conures (including the Half Moon, Blue Crowned, and others) may also fall into genuses of their own. All conures have long tails and originate from South and Central America; also Mexico. There was one Conure, the Carolina Parakeet, that actually lived in North American as far north as New York and Chicago; however this bird went extinct due to hunting and habitat destruction in the early 1900's. Conures range in size from as tiny as 8 1/2" to up to 21"! Life span: Most conures live around 15 to 35 years. Price: $100-$500 or higher for rare species. The majority of species fall in the $200 to $400 range. Diet: Conures aren't picky about their foods. Being enormously curious and playful, they like a very varied diet and should be provided with foods that offer a wide variety of shapes, sizes, colors, and textures. Pellets that come in different shapes and colors are often preffered over "plain" pellets. Conures are prone to "Conure Bleeding Sydrone", which is thought to be caused by a lack of Vitamin K, which is found in foods like broccoli. Cages/supplies: Conures are active and playful birds, who need a large cage to clamber around in. A large cockatiel cage will do for the small conures, the others will need a good-sized parrot cage. Be careful where you place those perches; if those long conure tails rub against the bars the tail feathers will become very ragged. Give your conure lots of toys, it will use them with gusto. They like toys they can destoy, but make sure there's no small parts they can swallow or openings where they could catch a claw or beak. Your conure will also appreciate a large playstand, again, equipped with lots of toys.

Conures
Conures are available in five different genera, each with their own traits. Aratinga conures are known to be a little louder, but they are also very colorful. Pyrrhura conures are considered quieter. Many conures learn to talk or whistle. These birds enjoy chewing, so be sure to provide them with safe wood pieces to satisfy this need. Conures are available from 8 to 18 inches long. With the different sizes and colors available, you're sure to find one that's right for you. The following are some of the most popular conure species available.
Sun conure (Aratinga solstitialis)
This is a popular choice for its bright-yellow body washed in orange and red. Sun conures are 12 inches long.
Gold-Capped (Aratinga auricapilla) This conure is predominantly green, distinguished by an orangish-red forehead and some yellow head feathers. Primary coverts and secondaries are blue. Some birds have a yellow wash to them. Gold caps are 12 inches long.
Jenday (Aratinga jandaya)
The jenday has physical traits of both the gold capwith its reddish-orange breast and green wingsand the sunwith its yellow to yellow-orange coloring. Jendays are also the same size as those two at 12 inches long.
Nanday (Nandayus nenday)
Maroon Belly (Pyrrhura frontalis) and Green Cheek (P. molinae)

Endearing, charming, playful and personality plus packaged into a vibrant bundle of feathers.
Thats a sun conure!
The sun conure possesses a multifaceted personality that will delight the experienced bird owner and pique the curiosity of the inexperienced nonbird person. They can best be described as curious, inquisitive, active and playful. They love attention and closeness from their owners.
A flock of sun conures flying across an evening sky was once said to have resembled a beautiful sunset. Hence, the name sun conure was assigned to the species. The sun conure's body color possesses a yellow-orange glow with a distinct resemblance to gold. The brilliant blend of yellow, orange, red, blue and green colors means sun conures outshine most other birds in appearance.

Conures - Genus Aratinga
by Terri Leinneweber
This article originally appeared in SQUAWK, the newsletter of the Big Apple Bird Association and is reprinted with permission. Six genera of parakeets are generally classified as conures. They were previous classified as genus Conurus (from the Greek: Kone (cone) and Ourus (tail-bearing), which translated as having a cone-shaped tail. Their scientific classification has changed, but the name "conure" has stayed. There are many species of Aratinga conures "Ara" from the genus' similarity to macaws (Genus Ara) and "tinga," a diminutive, so that Aratinga literally means "little macaw." The number of species and subspecies of Aratinga varies according to the source consulted. According to the on-line version of Encyclopedia Britannica , the Britannica Home Page on the Internet, there are about 45 species of conures, broken into about 7 genera of which Aratinga is one. According to Joseph Forshaw in the third edition of

In my opinion these three different families are well represented in Australia. The first group "Aratinga" with the Sun, Jandayas and Peach-fronted Conures being the most common members available. The Nanday Conure is the only member of its genus. It is very well represented in Australia and it is one of the most beautiful Conures. A Cinnamon mutation of the Nanday is also being bred. The last but not least group are the members of the Pyrrhuras . With the Green-cheeked and Maroon-bellied Conures the most commonly available here in Australia. For a list of other Conures here in Australia write to A.N.C.A. National Exotic Bird Registration Scheme , GPO Box 1443, Canberra ACT 2601. back to top ^

Westbrook, Queensland Conures' range/habitats are quite large and varied, from dry semi-desert, savannahs, and woodland forests to equatorial rainforests. Stretching from Mexico in the north through to Argentina in the south plus east to include some Caribbean Islands, plus almost every country in between. Feeding on the wild blossoms, native and cultivated fruit, berries, seeds and insects. Some species cause the local farmers problems in eating seed and fruit crops and for over a hundred years have been exported to many countries (e.g. USA, United Kingdom and Australia) before the ban on importation of birds into Australia was put in place in 1945. This was lifted in 1990 with limited importation until 1994. We can only hope the ban is lifted again to allow more Psittacine to be imported, but that is another story.

http://www.sunconure.com/diet.html
Your bird's diet is one of the most important considerations in it's overall care. Parrots eat a wide variety of foods in the wild and will thrive on many of the same foods in a healthy human diet. They can be fed the same grains, vegetables, fruit and meats that your family enjoys.
Grains, Breads, and Cereals: These foods can make up approximately 50% of daily food intake. Fresh Vegetables: Vegetables can account for 45% of your birds daily diet. Fresh vegetables are best for vitamin content but may be supplemented with cooked vegetables from the family table if these are not seasoned too highly. Frozen vegetables (thawed in the microwave) are acceptable when fresh vegetables are not in season. Fruit: Fruit should be offered in limited amounts. Fruit in combination with the protein and calcium foods that follow can make up the remaining 5% of your birds daily intake. Protein Foods: Protein foods include meats, nuts or other mature legumes (cooked navy beans, kidney beans, lentils, etc.) ~OFFER FRESH WATER SEVERAL TIMES A DAY~
