Richard Wagner Michael Kamen - Open Range: The world of film music suffered a great loss with the untimely death of composer Michael Kamen last year. He was particularly well-known for his collaborations with a number of rock musicians, from his work with Pink Floyd's "The Wall", the incorporation of Queen tracks in the movie "Highlander" and numerous projects where he worked with guitarist Eric Clapton. Even when not working with these musicians he sought to include the electric guitar sound in his music for the "Lethal Weapon" series. His most successful soundtrack was undoubtedly "Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves" where he co-wrote the popular theme song with singer Bryan Adams. This and other scores showed an ability to score a romantic soundtrack with flair while avoiding the mire of over-sentimentality. One of his final films, Open Range was also romantic at heart, although the western set story has its share of action, tension and a little humour.
