The Victim Witness Coordinator assists victims and witnesses through the criminal justice process and provides them with notification of case events, as well as referrals to local and state agencies for consultation and compensation assistance. The United States Attorney's Office is committed to ensuring that victims and witnesses of federal crimes are afforded their rights and provided the services necessary to help ease the effects of being victimized.

The goal of the Victim Witness Assistance Program is to ensure that victims of federal crime are treated with fairness and respect. This program carries out the mandates of the Federal Victim and Witness Protection Act of 1982, the Crime Control Act of 1990, and the Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act of 1994. These laws imposed significant duties on the United States Attorney's Offices by directing the federal government to make a "best effort" to afford victims of federal crimes their rights. The rights, commonly referred to as the "Victim's Bill of Rights" are listed as follows:

Connecticut Opera is proud to bring opera to communities in the Greater Hartford area.
Family Day
Annually, Connecticut Opera Resident Artists perform Family Day at the Opera, a performance for families that is free for children and uses several activities to introduce kids to opera. Family Day at the Opera has held drawing contests, a costume dress up, an after performance party and a chance to meet singers. This year Connecticut Opera will present two performances of Family Day at the Opera; Amahl and the Night Visitors on December 7th and The Three Little Pigs on February 8th.
Magic of...
Each year Connecticut Opera performs a shortened version of an opera for Greater Hartford school children. Schools are invited to bring classes to The Bushnell in Hartford for a morning performance. Each school is given information about the opera ahead of time so that they can incorporate the performance into their curriculum. This year Connecticut Opera invites students to attend The Magic of Barber, a specially designed performance of The Barber of Seville by Gioachino Rossini. UTC Family Opera Series In partnership with The United Technologies Corporation, Connecticut Opera offers a number of free and discounted tickets for Hartford school children to attend one of Connecticut Opera's main stage productions. Each school is sent information about the discounted tickets and is encouraged to use a Connecticut Opera prepared study guide in order to incorporate the opera into their curriculum.
