I you could help please do. DANIELLE I think computer generated art is a perfectly legit medium. Colleges are accepting this as well. I just graduated from college. New classes were being "made up" every semester to nurture the interest of students who saw the potential of virtual art, but were not willing to go into graphic design. Classes like digital painting and digital collage combined studio and graphic design techniques. Some ppl will argue that the computer is not a tool for making art. This arguement is foolish. Since the beginning of time, artist have used technology to open the doors of artistic expression and perception. Because of strong student interest, colleges are creating new areas of study. This is a very exciting time in the art world.

There are so many place now where you can show computer-generated art- they tend to often be shown as a new medium within fine art exhibitions. Some galleries do computer art exhibitions exclusively too. The Tate Britain did an on-line art show last year for instance. The ICA did one in the late 1960s called "Cybernetic Serendipity" which was one of the first world-wide. The Design Museum has a Web Wizards exhibition on at the moment where they are showing web designers' work- like Joshua Davis and Noodlebox. Also try: the Watershed - Bristol, , the new media centre at the ICA Colville Place Gallery the Global Cafe - Soho, CCA - Glasgow, the Site Gallery - Sheffield, Huddersfield Arts Centre, Watermans Arts Centre is starting to do new media and photography too.

    Giclees and Computer Generated Art
    From: Artsmentor ( lseiler@ez-net.com
Date: Wed Jul 11 2001 - 07:09:11 PDT I came back from a week's long arts/music festival in Illinois. About
    45,000 people....150 bands on 23 stages, a major art exhibition that I've
been a part of for about eight years, all camping over a period of about six
days. Other than staying up 'till about 4am each night and rising at about
8am...I'm fine! hahaha...in fact, this ole guy will be 47 years of age in
seven days and I was out there showing a few youngsters how moshing is done!
One thing that really intrigued me this year (18th year attending), was
Richard Harden's giclee prints of teens in war torn Kosovo, about a dozen of
them. Wonderfully large images of about 24" x 36" on heavy cotton rag
paper. He combined scanned graphite drawings of portraits of each young person, and layered colors and various collage type images with Photoshop.

"Not that I love Caesar less, but that I love Rome more" -Brutus The Organs of Our Mechanical Bodies
Organs: functional, discrete and specialized. The gerunds of the body, always -ing. Not merely shuffling, sorting, and shuttling components, but redefining them: this is not what it is; it is first nothing, so that it can become something else. The organs of our mechanical bodies are decoding machines, indifferent to the concepts of inherent value or the elemental ingredient, revealing that perception is nine-tenths of the law. This is not analogous to a translation machine, labeling and labeling again. It is a process of disorganization to achieve a momentary state of pre-history, a necessary pre-conception to the inevitable process of recoding. Decoding machines are disruptive, not reductive. The familiar flickers. Disorientation ensues. The bodies of our mechanical organs - legal, economic, geographic, personal and political - these bodies lose boundaries. The lucid becomes fluid: expansive bodies, powerful and vulnerable. The collapse of the whole endlessly falls back into itself or out of itself, a succession of bodies falling away as if out of all our city's windows. This is not progress but the possibility of reviewing what is now and its opportunistic permeability. The organs of our mechanical bodies decode in order to remake, remodel, and recode so that no single regime of codification remains entire, though forever there will be a regime and many regimes.

    "Alternate Eternity"
was my first 3D computer generated image(the first good one anyway). The title comes from one of my earlier hand drawn pictures with the same design that was set in outerspace and had the earth in the center. "Silver Penticle"
is based on the picture in the geometric section of the same title. It is alot more complex than it looks and was a pain in the ass to create. It's my favorite image in this section.
    "Sacred Dodec"
is based on a sacred geometry design. It can be seen in many different ways, such as 12 stars, 12 pentagons intersecting eachother, or a modified dodecahedron. Creating it in 3d was quite a challenge. "Impossible Shape"
is a shape that can not exist in 3 dimensions. It can only be shown in a 2 dimensional representation. This particular disign is the famous tribar, but instead of being constructed with 3 bars, It has been constructed in the original style of Oscar Reutersvard with 9 cubes. The first time I tried to render this image, my computer crashed... I guess it wasn't too happy about computing something that shouldn't exist... "Earth Knot"
was constructed without any idea what I was going to use it for. When I finished the knot, I tried doing several different things with it. While looking through a magizine; I saw a photo of the Earth and was inspired. I didn't know if would turn out, but I am pretty happy with the results.

    Encyclopedia Definition: Computer-generated art
Computer-generated art is art created with a computer . The term is usually appied to works created entirely with a computer. It is a subset of digital art Movies make heavy use of computer-generated graphics; it is called computer-generated imagery (CGI) in the film industry. In the , and early CGI advanced enough so that for the first time it was possible to create realistic 3D computer animation. The film The Phantom Menace was widely noted for its heavy use of computer graphics. Some people argue that completely computer-generated art isn't really art at all, since computers can't really appreciate beauty. See the definition of art The emerging answer seems to be that the computer makes a great paintbrush. A paintbrush makes no commentary about the quality of the work, but in the hands of a master can demonstrate the subtlest shading and evoke the strongest emotions. The computer then is a tool, albeit a liberating one; the standard paintbrush for example doesn't have an Undo feature.

    Computer-generated art
Word: Word Starts with Ends with Definition Computer-generated art is art Art originally was the processes of man, and as such was synonymous with science. Nowadays it can be seen in essence the foremost expression of human creativity. As difficult to define as it is to evaluate, given that each individual artist chooses the rules and parameters that guide her or his work, it can still be said that art is the process and the product of choosing a medium, a set of rules for the use of that medium, and a set of values that determine what deserves to be expressed through that medium, in order to convey either a belief, an idea, a sensation, or a feeling in the most effective way possible for that medium. (See Definition of Art)

The word was originally used to describe people employed to do arithmetic calculations, with or without mechanical aids, but was transferred to the machines themselves. Originally, the information processing was almost exclusively related to arithmetical problems, but modern computers are used for many tasks unrelated to mathematics.
