Christopher A. Garcia Tabla, Mbwata, Kanjira, Hand Percussion, Miscellaneous Christopher was born, raised, and still resides in East L.A. (Never to be confused with West L.A.). His background includes performances in a wide variety of musical settings including; Jazz, Rock, World Music, traditional Mexican music, percussion ensemble, soundtracks, and cartoon music.
He attributes his musical growth to his studies with Professor John Bergamo, Pandit Tarnath Rao, Swapan Chadhouri and Leonice Shinemann where he studied tabla, while attending California Institute of the Arts on a full scholarship. Chris was also a member of the award winning Cal Arts Percussion Ensemble in 1979.
He attributes his style(?) to Listening to EVERYTHING, logging in thousands of hours, practicing, rehearsing, performing and touring constantly with musicians interested in stretching and reinventing themselves.
He has toured extensively throughout the United Stated, Canada. His first trip abroad was to Korea with the Park Je Chun improvising world percussion quartet in 2000.
Christophers¹ drumming is unusual in that it incorporates not only the standard rhythms and their permutations, but also a fluency with odd time signatures and sonic textures, which he seamlessly incorporates into his playing.

Nevertheless, she's been called the "Jimi Hendrix of klezmer clarinet" for her pyrotechnic performance style and soulful interpretations of traditional Yiddish music. She founded Klezperanto in 1998 - along with music director and accordionist Evan Harlan - to create a new kind of dance music that would combine the irresistible rhythms of zydeco, cumbia, funk, second-line, and Romanian brass band surf music with klezmer. Celticana Bios Come feel the rhythm of the Celtic world! Like no other culture, the Celts have carried a great passionate, fighting spirit down through the ages. The music of Celticana is a journey into this fire that burns more brightly than ever for its sons and daughters of those fearless industrious immigrants. Original songs and stories of heroes; songs of great sacrifice, love and passion amidst great chaos, always containing a message of hope for wisdom and renewal. These stories are delivered within a landscape of intense melody, passionate vocals, progressive arrangements, and masterful instrumentation by world class musicians. Let us not forget the great sacrifice and work of our fathers and mothers before us here in America that has enabled us to enjoy the life we live today!
We have been called the "Best Celtic Band this side of the Emerald Isle" according to our reviewers. Celticana presents ORIGINAL, symphonic, Celtic based compositions with jazz and American roots influences into contemporary multi-voiced arrangements. How do we do this and maintain consistency and flow for the listener? The same answer to the question as to what sets us apart from other “Celtic” bands—our talent, our instrumentation, our strong songwriting and our beautiful stage performance. Our stories are real and our stage performance is unforgettable. Celticana members collectively and individually are composers, arrangers, multi-instrumentalists and record producers whom each have an impressive list of high caliber music industry credits.

Bulletin Boards That Teach About Composers and/or Performers

Gershwin's America This bulletin board is actually an American flag (well, sorta! It's my interpretation of the flag. :-)) With a Gershwin quote written on the white stripes and the name of some Gershwin songs on white notes that replace the white starts. The quote that I use: "True Music...must repeat the thoughts and inspirations of the people and their time. My people are Americans. My time is now." -George Gershwin (1898-1937) DUKE This bulletin board looks best down in black, white, silver and another accent color (like red or yellow). I use a white background, with sparkly silver trim, and black construction paper behind all of the letters, and the big photo of Duke Ellington in the middle of the board. I type up info about Duke Ellington, cut it down to a tall rectangular shape and then glue it to a piece of black construction paper that is cut in the shape of a top hat. I put the top hat with the info on it on a colored square of construction paper (red or yellow) and attach them in a semi-circle around the main picture of him in the middle of the board. I use top hats because the picture that I use of him has him in one. It looks sorta like this one- CLICK HERE . Here is the info that I use on the top hats. Born 29 April 1899 in Washington DC, composer, bandleader, and pianist Edward Kennedy ("Duke") Ellington was recognized in his lifetime as one of the greatest jazz composers and performers.

Former jazz Coordinator for WCUWFM, Worcester, MA. *Arts Lottery Grant recipient, award given to worthy artists and composers funded by Massachusetts Arts
http://www.janemillergroup.com/bios.shtml
BIOGRAPHY "Jane Miller the person directly relates to Jane Miller the musician without apparent contradiction. Miller speaks, and the focus, sincerity and earnestness of her music are also there in her voice. In fact, her own instrumental sound is not entirely unrelated to her speaking voice."
William Tandy Young, Blues Wire Guitarist/Composer Jane Miller¹s new CD, "The Other Room," on Pink Bubble Records, is a 12 song collection of her most recent compositions, brilliantly performed by her group (Tim Ray-piano, Bob Simonelli-fretless electric bass, and Don Kirby-drums). Like her previous two CDs, "Postcard," (1993) and "Secret Pockets," (1998) "The Other Room" is receiving rave reviews and air play throughout the United States and Canada. The pairing of engineer Peter Kontrimas and assistant producer Lauren Passarelli has resulted in a bold new sound, providing the perfect vehicle for this contemporary jazz material. The recording also features Jane¹s debut writing for strings, with a performance by The Arriaga String Quartet.
With roots in both the folk singer-songwriter and jazz worlds, Jane is an active freelancer and composer. She has become a frequent guitarist with the internationally acclaimed singer/songwriter SONiA, of disappear fear.
