  • West Virginia builder Ken Auvil sees the housing industry as one more deserving of attention in private and government plans for economic growth in this state. Auvil has renewed his pitch for a state energy policy coupled with a self-build initiative to generate 10,000 new homes in the state. The initiative emphasizes homebuilding with the buyer offering personal labor or other services to help reduce the price. It figures as “sweat equity” to the buyer. Also, it offers energy-saving features in new housing construction long advocated and practiced by the Auvil Home Team, based in Belington.
