*** DECEMBER 11th, 2003 *** Colorado Scholarship Program Supporters Fighting Back
The injunction against the Colorado Opportunity Scholarship Program issued last week by a Colorado judge spurred a concerted response from program supporters to get the program back on track.
Colorado Attorney General Ken Salazar and lawyers from the Institute for Justice both filed appeals to Judge Joseph Meyers ' judgment that the program violated the Colorado State Constitution, and called upon Meyer to lift his injunction.
"It is critical that the work of implementation continue as the case is appealed," said Chip Mellor, president and general counsel for the Institute for Justice. "Every additional day Colorado's low-income schoolchildren spend in struggling public schools is a lost day they will never recover."
Deputy Attorney General Ken Lane said there is no timetable for when the Colorado Supreme Court may consider the appeal.

General Adoption Sites Adopting.org : This site provides a library of articles on international, open, and domestic adoptions; an interactive support page consisting of chat rooms on a large range of adoptive issues, and expert and support boards for posting questions; and a directory of adoption resources that can be searched and narrowed using criteria such as state and organization name (for instance, the directory can provide you with a listing of Adoptee and Adoptive Parent Support Groups in Colorado - some of the information is outdated). About Adoption (About.com) Outstanding resource for information on multiple topics, including: adoption costs; adoption fraud; adoptees; gay/lesbian adoption; international adoption; kinship adoption; open adoption; legal resources; single adoptive parents; special needs adoption; transracial adoption; and search resources. In Colorado: The Adoption Exchange : The Adoption Exchange is based in the Rocky Mountain region and has branch offices in Albuquerque, Las Vegas, Salt Lake City, and St. Louis. The Exchange is not an adoption agency. It is, rather, a place for the exchange of resources on behalf of dozens of adoption agencies. When an agency is unable to locate a family for a waiting child, the agency uses The Exchange services to find a family. The Exchange offers a wide array of services to agencies that place waiting children with families.
