Organizations Supporting Staff Development:
Many of the United States provide some form of intermediate service centers to support educators who are working on state reform initiatives. In Illinois these are called Regional Offices of Education. In Michigan these are called Intermediate School Districts. In that case, ISDs have boundaries that overlap regular school districts and have their own taxing authority. In New York and Colorado these agencies are called BOCES which stands for Board of Cooperative Educational Services. Texas has 20 Education Service Center Regions. If you don't know how to access assistance from these agencies, click here to link to the Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO) which can connect you to the state board of education in your state. You should be able to find out there if such agencies are in your state. The only USA exception is Hawaii which has one school district for the entire state and so, the state provides the assistance directly.
In some countries, like Canada, the assistance for school improvement comes from provincial "ministries" of education. In other countries, like Singapore and Great Britain, the Ministry of Education is for the whole nation.

People With Disabilities Work In Agriculture
For most of the over three million Americans earning their livings in agriculture, the work is not just their livelihood, it is their way of life; a productive and satisfying way of life of which they are very proud.
The Problem
Agricultural production is hazardous. The USDA National Agricultural Statistics Service estimates that more than 200,000 farmers, ranchers, and other agricultural workers experience lost-work-time injuries and occupational illnesses every year, approximately five percent of which have serious and permanent results. Off-the-farm injuries; health conditions, such as heart disease, arthritis, or cancer; and aging disable tens of thousands more. The Breaking New Ground Resource Center estimates that more than 500,000 persons working in agriculture have physical disabilities that interfere with their ability to perform essential tasks on the farm or ranch. Additionally, thousands of children born into agricultural families have disabilities, such as cerebral palsy, mental retardation, and epilepsy. Physical and attitudinal barriers often prevent these children from participating fully in farm and ranch operations, and from engaging in social and recreational activities enjoyed by other rural youth. The majority of people with disabilities who work or live in agricultural settings want to continue to do so despite their disabilities. All too often, however, they are frustrated in their attempts. Rural isolation, limited personal resources, gaps in rural service delivery systems, and inadequate access to agriculture-oriented assistance are among the obstacles they face.

To most effectively improve the overall quality of education for every child and close the achievement gap, it is necessary for meaningful partnerships to be created between the educational community and the parents of all children. Methods to reach out to parents must take in to account the socio-economic and cultural differences that will allow for optimal involvement by the largest number of parents possible. No Child Left Behind requires that local education agencies (LEA’s) and schools have a parent involvement policy and plan to meaningfully engage parents in the educational process of their children. NCLB specifically requires LEA’s and schools to involve parents in the planning, implementation, evaluation and accountability of their overall educational program. To be meaningfully engaged, parents must have access to information and be empowered to act on it. Parents must be able to work with school staff to promote student achievement, close the achievement gap and reduce the dropout rate. Therefore, parents must also be involved in the decision-making processes of the overall educational program. There are opportunities for parents to be involved in decision making at their school and at the district at large. Meaningful parent involvement should meet all of the following
