Agencies are mandated to protect and advocate for the rights of people with mental illnesses and to investigate reports of abuse and neglect in facilities that care for or treat individuals with mental illnesses. These facilities, which may be public or private, include hospitals, nursing homes, community facilities, board and care homes, homeless shelters, jails, and prisons. Agencies provide advocacy services or conduct investigations to address issues that arise during transportation or admission to such facilities, during residency in them, or within 90 days after discharge from them. Overview This web site was formally launched on March 12, 1996 by Michael Jackson a member of the Beryllium Support Group which meets monthly at the National Jewish Medical and Research Center in Denver, Colorado. The intent is to provide a platform where any other Beryllium Support Group regardless of affiliation or location can freely participate in the presentation of or transfer of information relating to this incurable disease.

Water Education Foundation Water Tours The Water Education Foundation's tours offer participants a firsthand look at the water facilities, rivers and regions critical in the debate about the future of water resources in California and the West. Issues of water supply, water quality, environmental restoration, flood management, water marketing, groundwater and water conservation are addressed by a wide range of speakers representing different viewpoints. The tours are praised for being balanced, thorough and fun . Participants learn about local, state and federal issues from a host of experts on all sides.
