This is an opportunity to renew this relationship, to share information on your study abroad experiences, and to review your graduation requirements. A review of your requirements, major and general education, is particularly important since you may not have been able to consult with your advisor when you registered from abroad. 2. • Understand and appreciate other cultures as well as your own. By immersing yourself in a different culture, you can enrich your professional and personal future, broaden your cultural and philosophical horizons, and return to the U.S. truly a citizen of the world. Gain a global education. Studying in another country gives you the global perspective that is unattainable through mass media or books. You will gain a tangible sense of how other people live and work around the world by experiencing their environment every day. You can transcend brief news pieces and politicians' statements by coming to know how the general population feels about the basic human adventure as well as world events. Learn a foreign language.
