But before you start, here are some things to think about when you go to college:
  • Always make sure you meet the requirements, whether that means taking the right test (and studying for it well in advance) or taking French III or sending in 3 recommendations instead of just 2.
  • Be on time! Early can never hurt, and in some cases of rolling admissions, a later, but on time, application could mean a wait list instead of a letter of admission.
  • Write letters, search the library, send out postcards and find out about scholarships. And fill out the applications. A lot of money is never claimed because people just don't take the time to find out. Try FastWeb below for your own customized list of scholarships.

Suggestions for Authors of Two-Year College Web Pages

O ne purpose of this page is to provide a comprehensive list of two-year colleges in the United States. It includes community colleges, technical colleges, junior colleges, branches of four-year colleges which focus on associate degree education, and accredited two-year proprietary schools. Another, equally important purpose of this page is to encourage two-year colleges to take full advantage of the capabilities offered by the Internet. By sharing information, seeing what other institutions are doing, and learning from each other, we can all move to a higher level of achievement.
T wo year post-secondary educational institutions offer certificate programs (less than two years of work), professional technical programs (terminal associate degrees), and transfer programs (Associate of Arts and Associate of Sciences degrees). Depending on the source (and whether or not you include proprietary schools), there are between 1,100 and 1,500 two-year colleges in the United States. This page attempts to list all of these institutions, with links to those that have web pages or gopher services.

73. Wabash College: Classics
Featuring information on courses and resources, faculty and alumni.

VERVIEW
The Classics Department faculty is unusually large for the size of the school. With four members, the department is one of the largest in the Great Lakes Colleges Association, even though Wabash is the smallest school in the GLCA. All faculty members are active in their fields outside of the classroom, publishing books and articles, giving talks at professional meetings, carrying on archaeological excavations in Greece and Jordan, travelling extensively in France, Italy, Greece, Turkey, and the Near East. The classics stand at the center of the Wabash curriculum. Not only do students take courses in Latin, Greek, and Classics, but other departments offer courses to supplement those offered by the department. These include ancient political theory, ancient Greek philosophy, and ancient rhetoric from the departments of Political Science, Philosophy, and Speech. Ancient history courses are taught by members of the Classics Department. Culture and Traditions, a required course for all Wabash sophomores, regularly includes study of the ancient Greeks. "I am biased in favor of boys learning English; I would make them all learn English: and then I would let the clever ones learn Latin as an honor, and Greek as a treat."
