A - D Acne is a common skin problem, more prevalent in teens than adults but can occur in both. Nothing can be as frustrating as Acne, and there are many causes of it, here are a few tips that may be able to help you get rid of Acne:
  • Never pop a pimple, it just makes the Acne worst and can cause infection, best to just leave it alone and it will heal quicker, otherwise you may make the inflammation worst.
  • For women, you should always remove all your makeup at night, wash your face completely and try to get all the make up off. You could also use special makeup made of sensitive skin that doesn't use oil as a base.
  • Nettle Tea is another solution, this tea has a herb that has some curing power and really helps work wonders on skin problems. Try having four cups a day and it may be helpful to skin problems.
  • Aloe Vera juice applied twice a day can greatly speed up the healing of acne lesions. You could find Aloe Vera juice at most health food stores.

    67. Colds: How To Know...What To Do...When
colds How to Know What to do When. by EJ Skip Carstensen, MD. Mystery, confusion, and uncertainty about colds and their treatment abound.
    http://medicalreporter.health.org/tmr1096/carstensen.html
Colds: How to Know...What to do...When
by E.J. "Skip" Carstensen, M.D. Cold season lies at the tips of our noses. Rhinoviruses ("nose viruses") skulk on the tips of our fingers, awaiting their chance to make mucous membrane mischief. Rub your eye or touch your nose and they have your nose "off and running." Mystery, confusion, and uncertainty about colds and their treatment abound. But one fact is indisputable: the number of touted cold "remedies" matches the number of cold viruses. Unfortunately, none fit like lock & key to cure, prevent or even speed healing of the 'common' cold. A cold seems to last a week without treatment and seven days with treatment. "If we can send a man to the moon, why can't we cure the common cold?" is the oft-heard indictment of the health sciences. Pithy comment but faulty logic. The logic assumes, "To be common is to be simple." Colds, like people, are common, but far from simple, and widely different. Rhinoviruses, the primary "cold-causers," are typical of all viruses they are not capable of having a life of their own. To make us sick, they must invade, dwell in, and commandeer our cellular machinery. This viral-cellular intimacy makes antibiotics counterproductive. We and the unwelcome virus are so entwined, that if antibiotics killed the virus, they'd also kill our cells. Doubly shrewd, the large numbers and wide variability of these DNA villains make vaccines prohibitively costly.

Back To The Health Page Goldenmean Cold And Flu Remedies When European Explorers found their way to the islands of the Caribbean, they discovered that the natives of these islands had a much higher resistance to colds (and a much lower incidence of scurvy) than did European sailors. Observation also revealed that these natives ate large quantities of grapefruits and pineapples. The natives of the Caribbean Islands were not the only ones to make this connection early on. The Seminole Indians of Florida traditionally gargled grapefruit juice to prevent colds to alleviate sore throats. The early explorers knew no more about vitamin C than did the natives. But the islanders, and the Europeans, did make the connection between citrus fruits and warding off colds. Studies have shown that chicken soup is effective against a cold. A good recipe is to cook chicken with water, celery, onions, carrots, and a garlic clove or two, until the chicken falls off the bone. Strain broth, discarding any fat. Put thin pieces of lemon on top and serve the broth to the sufferer. The pomegranate, a tree fruit that is common to regions in the Middle East, is a popular treatment for the common cold. Its bright red juice is equally effective against all the usual symptoms, including sore throat, cough, congestion, and fever. Pomegranates, which are loaded with vitamin C, can be found in most grocery stores.

    Tips
    • Put your toothbrush in a glass of hydrogen peroxide. This will keep you from reinfecting yourself. • See our Congested Nose section for ways to relieve congestion. Hydrogen Peroxide
From what we have read, hydrogen peroxide works quite well and is supposed to be effective 80% of the time, especially if done when the symptoms first appear. While it seems contrary to what we have been taught about colds and flu we know quite a few people who have tried it with great success. In 1928 Richard Simmons, M.D. hypothesized that colds and flu viruses enter through the ear canal. His findings were dismissed by the medical community. According to Dr. Simmons, contrary to what you may think or have been taught about how you catch the flu or a cold, there is only one way that you can catch them, and that's via the ear canal, not through the eyes, nose or mouth. Keeping your fingers out of your ears will greatly reduce your chances of catching the flu or a cold, but then again the bacteria and viruses are microscopic and can be air-born and may land in your ear. Once they have entered the inner ear (middle ear) they begin their breeding process and travel to other parts of the body with the infection. Dr. Simmons’ concept was to stop the process where it began. In 1938 German researchers had great success using hydrogen peroxide in dealing with colds and the flu. Their data has been ignored (maybe suppressed) for over 60 years.

In the world of conventional medical practice, there is no real help for the suffering caused by the common cold and flu. One can only use a chemical to mask the symptoms for a few hours and wait for the virus to run its course. In Homeopathy, however, there is the possibility of actually fighting the virus. The Boiron Homeopathic Company has a patent on the use of a particular bacterium which used in homeopathic form can actually give immunity to viruses. The use of a disease causing entity is called a nosode in homeopathy. Nosodes have a wide range of uses, ranging from relief of symptoms where the provings match the individual, to immunity. In general, a virus helps fight bacteria, and a bacteria helps fight a virus. The Boiron Company markets their bacteria in a 200c potency nosode under the name "Oscillococcinum".

How To Treat Flu Or Colds With Diabetes
by John Walsh, P.A., C.D.E. Flu: Flu Symptoms Prevention Flu Vaccine Flu Treatment
Cold: Cold Symptoms Treating a Cold Prevent An Early Demise Fall and winter are the viruses' delight . Rhinoviruses (colds) and adenoviruses (flus) prey on people huddled close together in cold weather. They also feel right at home on thousands of daily continental and intercontinental flights on which they fly for free. The vast oceans on the earth host uncounted viral hoards, and global warming makes breeding and mutations easier. Adenovirus transmission often goes from wild birds or bats to chickens, then pigs, and finally to humans. Flu season usually begins in early December and winds up in late March, but a 1999 outbreak began in Alaska in September, and unusual summer influenzas have also been seen in some parts of this country over the last few years. On average, adults develop 2 to 3 colds or flus per year, and children as many as 6 to 12. Knowing when to visit the doctor can be tricky. Here are some criteria to help you make an informed decision.

    Treating colds naturally
The cold is the most common infectious disease in the United States. The cold accounts for more absences from work and school than any other illness. It is the #1 cause of patient visits to doctors. It is not easy to catch a cold. Your body's immune defenses usually fight off these viruses. There is a direct correlation between the amount of time spent in contact with an infected person and your risk of catching a cold. This is why familie members tend to get colds together. In most cases , something called a "rhinovirus" is the cause of the common cold, while a variety of other viruses are responsible for the remaining cases of the cold. However, bacterial infections are rarely the cause of upper respiratory symptoms so antibiotics won't help most colds. Almost all cases of the common cold are caused by VIRUSES, and antibiotics do not work against viral infections. In spite of this fact, an amazing 60% of colds are treated with antibiotics. Researchers found that 60% of parents wrongly believe that some colds are caused by bacteria and nearly 50% mistakenly believe that things such as colds, green mucous and bronchitis should be treated with antibiotics.(1) Colds are actually caused by VIRUSES, and antibiotics and antibacterial lotions have no effect on them.

The common cold is difficult to cure because the virus changes size, shape, and resistance to treatment. It has hundreds of forms, making it almost impossible to develop a vaccine. A cold is always in the upper respiratory tract. If lung involvement, see the doctor. Lung or chest infections can be dangerous. Yellow or white spots appearing in the throat, enlarged lymph glands in the neck or under the jaw, and/or chills and shortness of breath occur, see the doctor without delay.

Preventing colds, flu influenza in the ill seasons. When is the flu season and how do they know what kind of flu I will get? colds, flu influenza.
    http://ca.essortment.com/coldsfluinflue_rvyo.htm
The best medicine for colds and flus is preventive measures. Good hand washing and not sharing objects you touch with other infected persons. The pathogens in colds and flus are airborne, passed through coughing, sneezing, salvia, and touching things that have been touched by someone infected. There are several things on the market now a day to use, such as Lysol wipes, or antibacterial hand wash that requires no water you can use frequently. Receiving a yearly flu shot will also help decrease your chances of getting the flu. Rule of thumb is the flu starts in Asia, and travels around the world. That is how they know what strain of flu will hit what area at what approximate time of the year. This has worked well for the past couple of decades. At times it is possible for the flu to mutate into another influenza, which has happened, but only to a moderate degree. bodyOffer(21188) Although once you have had the flu, there is no mistaking the differences between a cold and flu, but some of the symptoms are the same just vary in degree. Symptoms of a Cold The symptoms of a cold vary; it may lead into sinus infections or bronchial infections. Fever, sore throat, congestion, nasal discharge, sneezing, coughing, and facial pain. You should consult a doctor if the chest congestion or nasal discharge thicken or worsen. Coughing up anything yellow or green indicates the need for an antibiotic. This may last three to five days and you can pass this as long as you are running a temperature.

Main colds and Influenza. colds and Influenza (flu) are both caused by a virus that is passed from one individual to another through the air.
    http://www.pharmweb.net/pwmirror/pwz/conditions/coldflu.html
    Colds and Influenza
Colds and Influenza (flu) are both caused by a virus that is passed from one individual to another through the air. These two ailments also have common symptoms, which often leads to confusion of the two conditions. Colds and flu are not the same thing, flu is much more dangerous, and can be fatal. However , due to the similarity of the symptoms the treatments available are similar for both the flu and the common cold.
The flu has additional symptoms which make it identifiable from a cold. The symptoms of a cold, of which some or all may be present, include:
    • Headache
    • Runny/Blocked Nose
    • Sore Throat
    • Runny Eyes
    • Slight Fever
    • Dry Cough
The flu has the following additional symptoms:
    • Fever (High Temperature)
    • Lethargy
    • Sweating
    • Aching of the entire body (particularly) the joints
Another way to differentiate a bad cold from a case of flu is the duration of the infection and subsequent recovery. An individual will take longer to recover fully from the flu than they would from a common cold.
It is possible to vaccinate against flu by monitoring the slight changes in the virus each year. However, when faced with the massive variety of cold viruses it would be impossible to vaccinate against them all. This is why there is, as yet, no cure for the common cold.
