Bullion Coin Collectors Site
Bullion coin collecting is the collecting of bullion coins, such as gold Eagles, platinum Nobles, Pandas, Maple Leafs, Kookaburras, Koalas, Philharmonics, Britannias, Isle of Man Cats, and Gibraltar Dogs. Did you know that the U.S. mints millions of gold coins each year? This site is designed for the few people out there that collect bullion coins, rather than invest in them. These beautiful coins (most made of gold or platinum) are collected for their beauty, scarcity, and value. It can be very difficult to get information on bullion coins (very few dealers even have a selection), so I am hoping this site will be useful. NEW! Details on the BU-vs-proof 1/20oz gold unicorn scam o What are bullion coins? o Why collect them? o Links to mints, dealers, and other related sites o Where can I buy them? o Varieties of bullion coins o Tax on bullion coins o Mintages o Counterfeit Coins o Gold content/value of various coins o The Coins o Terms o Storage/Handling/Display This site was first placed online at the end of July, 1999. It is for the collector of bullion coins (mostly platinum, gold, silver, and occasionally other metals such as palladium), including American Eagles, Canadian Maples, Chinese Pandas, Australian Kangaroos, Australian Koalas, Australian Kookaburras, Austrian Philharmonics, Britannia, Canadian Maple Leafs, Isle of Man Cats, Gibraltar Dogs and Australian nuggets. You can get started in bullion coin collecting (from other sources; there are no coins for sale here) for under US$10 (silver), $20 (gold) or $30 (platinum). This webmaster of this site unfortunately doesn't have much time to answer questions these days.

web log Archives Monday - June 07, 2004 no favorites I may be the odd man out with this opinion, but I don't like to choose favorites. I'm explaining why I feel that way so even if you don't agree with me, at least you can understand my reasoning. Let's start with the definition. favorite , n.
1a: One that enjoys special favor or regard.
1b: One that is trusted, indulged, or preferred above all others, especially by a superior: a favorite of the monarch.
2: A contestant or competitor regarded as most likely to win. What I don't like is the "preferred above all others" part. If I say something is my favorite, I'm saying I like it above everything else, and that's rarely the case. I like lots of things depending on the context. For example, if someone asks me what my favorite car is, my answer is it depends. Favorite car for what? If I'm racing then I would prefer a sports car, but if I'm going off road I want a totally different car (or truck even, but that's not the point). Another example choosing a favorite color. I like variety. If everything were one color, I would get tired of it, so I like things to be different colors.

    APS Chapter #1492
The was formed in 1996 by two people - a stamp collector and a coin collector. Warrenton is a rural community about 35 miles southwest of Washington, DC, in horse country, near the foothills of the mountains on the western boarder of Virginia. When the WSC was formed, it met in Tony Tripi's hobby shop and had room for about 4 people! Very soon, the club grew and was lucky enough to have a new member who owned a nursing home nearby, so he offered to let them meet in the cafeteria. The club grew to about 10 people very quickly, with about half interested in stamps and the other half interested in coins. It continued to meet at the nursing home for about 2 years until Tony got a larger store, where meetings are now held in the meeting room. With the move out of the nursing home, attendance has grown to about 20 members for each meeting. Meetings consist of a short business review with committee chairmen from each committee reporting. Committees cover the following:
    • Show - we had our first show in the local armory last Christmas in conjunction with an antique show and we are looking to do our own show this year.
