How to Set Up a School Web Club
1. Decide what structure you want to have for the club.
  • Will it be a formal school organization? Will it be a class posting work in collaboration with their teacher? Will the "club" be simply a student or two helping out the school webmaster?
If you're going to have a regular school club, review the procedures for setting up a club in your school district. In general, you will need a teacher/advisor. You may also need to get approval from an administrator and fill out paperwork. If you plan to put student work on the school web site, you will need to set the club up in collaboration with the official school webmanager. 2. Get full Internet Acceptable Use forms and Permission to Publish forms signed by students and parents. See the section of this site for more information.

9. SupportNet Online: Web Clubs
Note some web clubs also decide to set up their own award value to their own siteor the web in general. Education World designates a Cool school of the Week.

Awards for Web Clubs and Club Members
Winning awards can inspire students and help recognize the work they put in on web sites. Money may be available from parent organizations for small awards to recognize outstanding contributions to the school site. Certificates to acknowledge achieving milestones in learning to construct pages and sites may also be appropriate. Some interesting certificates can be created free online at the Certificate Creator site. These might be given out for achievements during the year or at awards school awards ceremonies. Awards Available on the Web There are numerous awards available on the web. Some offer only recognition and a button. Others include T-Shirts, money, and other incentives. Generally winning awards also helps to publicize the school both across the Internet and in local announcements. The following partial listing will give web club members and advisors a place to start in applying for award recognition. Note: some web clubs also decide to set up their own award to recognize sites or individuals that they feel have contributed significant value to their own site or the web in general.
