The best memories come from the good times in life. One of my fondest memories was visits to Grandma's farm in the country at Christmas time. (at least that's what Grandma said...) Enjoy these time treasured recipes and share them with your family. Remember! Grandma said they can have all they want... It's Christmas!

Light Up Your Holidays Safely and Economically

Now that the Christmas season has begun, it is time to get out the decorations and begin to spread a little holiday cheer. Holiday lights are a big part of the Christmas season. Unfortunately, so are accidents resulting from the improper use of holiday lights. Last year 1,300 people were treated at hospital emergency rooms for injuries resulting from handling holiday lights incorrectly. With a combination of knowledge and caution, you can enjoy the beauty of holiday lights without becoming one of those unfortunate statistics. Here are some tips to keep you safe while decorating with lights this holiday season.

People who don t often find time to cook during the year will find themselves in the kitchen cooking Thanksgiving dinner, christmas cookies and holiday dinners
    http://www.jacksonemc.com/connections/cooking.html
    Be Safe When Cooking
Don’t forget the importance of safety when cooking. In particular, remember that a watched pot rarely causes fires. A study of the causes of residential cooking fires by the Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers and the National Association of State Fire Marshals showed that 73 percent of the 2,085 fires studied occurred when cooks left the room while food was on the cooktop or in the oven. To protect yourself from fire: Carry a potholder or wooden spoon or set a timer to remind yourself about the cooking food if you leave to answer a door or phone. Remember to remove pans from heat sources when you’ve finished cooking, and make sure everything is turned off. Keep the pan lid nearby. If a fire begins in a pan, put the lid on, turn off the heat and wait for the pan to cool. To put out an oven fire, shut the oven door and turn off the heat.

Fire away! moderatorsteve Here we go. nomoremarthastewart My soninlaw doesn't want me to make peanut butter cookies for them for christmas because they have a newborn and he says peanut butter is an allergy risk to infants. He's crazy, right? What other ingredients are unsafe for infants or toddlers? JanetKeeler Many doctors advise young children not to eat peanuts because of allergy concerns. So, no, he's not crazy. There are not cookies suitable for infants, mostly because they don't have a lot of teeth to chew them. Sugar cookies or even chocolate chip cookies would be great for toddlers.

Contents: INTRODUCTION Although Christmas is generally the time for high-fat meals and overdoing it at the dinner table, you can still eat healthfully and prepare delicious recipes for a feast for family and friends. By experimenting with some new lowfat holiday recipes, you'll be ready to start the new year fit and satisfied. This festive menu will give you enough food for 6 people, and every recipe is free of any added fat. Try the polenta cut into attractive shapes with cookie cutters and serve the pale pink poached pears in a crystal dish. Decorate the Christmas table with natural decorations such as pine cones and evergreen boughs and assorted candles. The following recipes are adapted from my upcoming cookbook, 'Tis the Season: A Vegetarian Christmas Cookbook SAGE BREADSTICKS
(Makes 40 breadsticks) These herbed breadsticks are thin and crispy and are quite popular as munchies for a lively party. The best breadsticks are the ones that are stretched, not rolled. Serve these stacked high in a rustic basket lined with a red or green napkin.
