FORTIFYING THE FAMILY The point of these observations is not to convince you of how bad the situation of our society has become. Rather, it is to set the context for the main points of our discussion: First, the debauchery of any age does not materialize out of a vacuum. Second, the solution to such debauchery is not going to materialize out of a vacuum either. Thus the million-dollar question: If not a vacuum, then from whence does the source and solution originate? This is the question that must be addressed if a solution is to be formulated.
Many people point, and rightfully so, to the changes in structure and purpose of the traditional family over the past 50 years as the source of societal decline.
Thus, our purpose here is to identify the aspects of family life that have been lost and forgotten, those that once produced strong and productive citizens, and suggest applications that would build the family into the strong fortress of moral fabric it is designed to be. But to simply list a number of familial ideals with some isolated ideas of implementation is not very helpful in of itself. For you see, the smaller society of family, like the larger society of our nation, did not lose its way in a vacuum either. No, the same million-dollar question must be addressed for the smaller as well as the larger society.
The good news is that, since the larger society is comprised of the smaller, the answer for the larger society of our nation is the same as that for the smaller society of the family. It is good news, that is

Bach, Johann Christian
The youngest son of Johann Sebastian Bach by his second wife, Johann Christian Bach was born in Leipzig in 1735 and on the death of his father in 1750 moved to Berlin to live with his brother C.P.E. Bach. He later travelled to Italy, where he studied with the famous Padre Martini, became a Catholic and was employed for a short time as organist at Milan Cathedral. In 1762 he moved to London as a composer of Italian opera, like Handel fifty years before him, and enjoyed a considerable reputation there for a number of years, establishing a series of subscription concerts with his colleague Abel. His fame extended both to Mannheim and to Paris, but by the time of his death his popularity in London had waned. His influence on the young Mozart was considerable, and they met both in London and in Paris. He is sometimes known as "the London Bach". Orchestral Music Johann Christian Bach wrote a number of orchestral works, some for the concerts that he organised in the Hanover Street concert rooms in London. These compositions included Six Grand Overtures, Op. 18, and Six Harpsichord Concertos, Op. 7. Recommended Recordings Sinfonias Op. 3, Nos. 1-6

The works on this disc, volume 3 of ModeÂs Christian Wolff Edition, belong to his minimalist, and open-form, styles. The Tilbury pieces (1969Â70) are named for the pianist John Tilbury, whom Wolff had recently met at that time. Snowdrop (1970), from the same period, was named for the snowdrops among the earliest Spring flowers found in the Vermont countryside where Wolff lives. They attempt to integrate a systematic way of writing with chance and the excitement of early minimalism from Riley, Glass and Reich along with their English counterparts Hobbs, Smith, Nyman and White. A reaction against Serialism, their sound motifs come in fixed cycles, now and again two or more sounds appear at the same time, coincide and collide, making chords. Tilbury 5 was written 25 years later at the request of the performers Dahinden, Kleeb and Polisoidis to extend the
