Er medlemmer i foreningen: De Frie Koreografer. Poems of Dance. Cirk creates poems poems that never become words on paper Before they get that far they have turned into dance and music into light and living people. CIRK creates Dance-Theatre.
Together they create the concept of the performance, they work in intense cooperation throughout the creative process and during each performance. They have now been working together for over 12 years, one of their aims are, and has been all the time, to break the roles between them, the musician makes choreography and the choreographer makes music, or they do it together, all the shows CIRK has produced has been done this way, by these two people, they also creates the ideas for scenography and costumes, light design etc. It's stagings where the inspiration has been taken from many different variations of art; The theatre, martial arts, the language of pictures, the poetry of sculptures, performed in a wide and dramatical sequence.

The Choreography of Lew Christensen
Lew Christensen was one of America's most important dancers and choreographers. Credited as being this century's first great American-born danseur noble, he was also the creator of over one hundred and ten ballets, several of which are recognized as seminal works in American dance history. Christensen was a principal dancer and ballet master with Ballet Caravan, The American Ballet, Ballet Society, the New York City Ballet, and, most significantly, Artistic Director of San Francisco Ballet from 1951 until his death in 1984. Christensen's ballets are acclaimed for their craft, musicality and wit. His choreography shrewdly yet effortlessly blends the classical legacy with an innate American liveliness. Christensen's ballets are in the repertory of major companies in the United States including San Francisco Ballet, the New York City Ballet, and the Joffrey Ballet. This site is intended to be the primary on-line resource for information about the choreography of Lew Christensen. The choreography of Lew Christensen is the property of the Christensen Trust, Timothy Duncan trustee.

The Pioneer Choreographers
Robert Alton

Robert Alton may well have been the most prolific dance director on the Broadway and Hollywood scene during the 1930'3, 1940's, and 1950's with such shows to his credit as ANYTHING GOES, PAL JOEY, and ME AND JULIET.
The characteristic Alton mode of show dancing used tap dance as a stylistic base onto which elements of ballroom, ballet, folk, or ethnic dance could be grafted. So entrenched did this image of show dancing become that the scholar Cecil Smith identified Alton as "the truest and best representative in our time of the historic qualities of American popular theatre dancing."
George Balanchine George Balanchine, who began his carreer with impeccable training at the Russian Imperial Ballet School in St. Petersburg, requested that his program credit for ON YOUR TOES (1936) read "choreographed by..." rather than the customary "dances by..." So did George Balanchine fire the first salvo in a revolution that would change forever the nature, scope and function of American show dancing.
Balanchine opened the door for ballet on the American stage with such shows as I MARRIED AN ANGEL, BABES IN ARMS, THE BOYS FROM SYRACUSE, SONG OF NORWAY and WHERE'S CHARLEY. He became the model for the complete choreographer who could supply a show not with routines, but with fully realized and fully-integrated dance.

The first Aboriginal Choreographers Workshop was held in December 1998. The workshops provided professional development for three Aboriginal choreographers and five dancers with a strong interest in choreography, to create and develop their own works, working with experienced senior Aboriginal choreographers. The choreographers and dancers presented the new works in an open studio setting. Results... The Boy who went to the Moon created by Andrameda Lutchman was produced by SYANA at the Yukon Arts Centre , and Throw Away Kids created by Muriel Miguel was produced by Chinook Winds for the Banff Arts Festival. The main purpose of the workshop is to research and experiment with approaches to creating a cohesive and strong movement vocabulary. The final goal is to create a strong, ten minute choreography, focusing on the movement and musicality of the work. A successful work should be able to be performed with just two elements, dancers and music The secondary objective of the workshop will focus on integrating production elements to the choreography. Attention will be given to using artistic and technical elements to enhance the objective of the choreography. Choreographers are expected to understand and justify the relationship, appropriateness and importance of chosen production elements. The objective is to keep production elements simple and meaningful to the choreography.

Dance moves are usually isolated and defined and organized so that beginning dancers can learn and use them independently of each other. Dance moves tend to emphasize lead and follow and connection. Dance moves by themselves ignore musicality, which is the appropriateness of a move to the music.
