The London team was captained by none other that that renowned player, writer and teacher, William Lewis. Second in command was John Cochrane, who, just a few years earlier, 1821 to be exact, while still a law student had gone to Paris where he lost a triangular match to both Deschapelles (at pawn and 2 odds) and to his protege, Bourdonnais (even odds), but who then turned around and beat Deschapelles at even odds! No one even remembers the last time someone beat Deschapelles even. (the catch was that Deshapelles had to win two thirds of the games, which he failed to do) "

This is because exams and revision have taken priority and will do so until Thursday June 4th I'm afraid. I apologise that this isn't very good for the club but there was so much stuff that needed doing that I felt it was better for it all to be done in one go and not it stages. This has started and will continue to be done over the coming months. The main stage is a new database which will contain all the results. This is due to be finished by the close of Uni on Friday June 19th and will be bigger and easier to use all being well now I have a firm grasp of what ASP pages I will need. So what else will be new? Well there are results from the last 3 years now to go on the site. I have new software to upload some of our players games. The site will be more professional with better match reports and better layout. I think this looks good so far. CSS and HTML will be of a better quality too.
