Chess Clubs Give Kids New Skills and New Hope!
Volunteers are teaching members of the Young Masters Chess Club in Reno, Nevada, how to play the game of chess and much more! Chess is a tool for teaching other skills as well, such as concentration and critical thinking. And it can help build student self-esteem. Indeed, it's a game that can change kids' lives! Included: Links to great chess Web sites and other chess resources.
As you window-shop on Saturday at the Park Lane Mall in Reno, Nevada, you might notice a group of tables set up in the main mall. There, you will see children and adults gathered around, staring intently at chessboards. Those young people enjoying the strategy and thought going into each game are members of the Young Masters Chess Club. They're playing this centuries-old game thanks to Project Chess, a program of the

CHESS ON THE INTERNET
When I first started to play online, there were only a few places to play on the Internet, and much of the chess activity was on commercial services like CompuServe and GEnie. Now I think that's reversed, and most people looking for real-time play are at one of the "Internet chess servers." These are online chess clubs with international memberships. They also host live events with grandmaster and international master coverage of events like the US Jr. Championship and the US Championship. Unlike most Webpage coverage, these real-time servers let you not just watch the events, but also discuss them with other players while they're being simulcast. Be warned though: these places are really addictive! You can play, chat, and watch Grandmaster games whenever you want to. All 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and you don't have to take your slippers off! Three of the more interesting Internet sites are chess.net

Association information, membership information, contact information for Montana chess clubs, and upcoming event information.
http://www.montanachess.com/index1.htm
This is the first official website of the Montana Chess Association. Created in June 2000, the site operated actively until June 2002.
Welcome to Montana Chess! Our association has been around since 1935 and is one of the most organized in the country.
The MCA has a very good tournament circuit, a well-organized process for determining a state champion, an active board of directors and a community of players who enjoy getting together to enjoy the game of chess.
Despite the small population of the state, there are some strong players in Big Sky Country. Relative to the average strength for USCF ratings, it is believed that Montana players are underrated by at least 100 points. Good chess is played here!
Membership in the MCA entitles you to receive a newsletter (five times per year) with recent tournament scores and games, along with news of coming events and the chance to participate in USCF-rated tourneys.
Enjoy your visit to our site!
