  • The American Chemical Society homepage Bioluminescence - Ever wonder how fireflies make that awesome "cool" light? It's a trick of chemistry, of course, called chemiluminescence. The Catalyst - This site has been developed specifically for the secondary education/high school level teacher, as a resource for finding relevant information for use in the teaching of chemistry. Chembalancer is a little online game to teach balancing equations. You type numbers in front of each molecule until there are the same number of atoms on both sides of the equation, then click the 'Balanced' button. If you don't want your students to see the ads, there's a link to a freeware copy of the game at this site. ChemCom: Chemistry in the Community The Chemical of the Week - In his General Chemistry courses, Prof. Shakhashiri distributes a weekly fact sheet about a chemical or type of chemical to increase students' knowledge about chemicals, their production, cost, and uses. He has separate lists for First Semester General Chemistry and Second Semester General Chemistry . An example of what you will find is the Chemistry of Autumn Colors has sections on Matter, Elements, Atoms, Math, and Reactions.

    60. Serendip
General chemistry online a very highly reccommended chem resource for the highschool/undergraduate level, with sections for toolbox, features, tutorials,
    http://serendip.brynmawr.edu/sci_edu/chemsites.html
Interactive Chemistry Serendip sees the web as a tool which can make education a more interactive and exploratory process, by making freely available educational resources at a variety of levels and also, even more importantly, be making it increasingly possible to learn by doing (see Serendip's web principles and credo on education and technology ). To encourage understanding and use of the web in this way, Serendip provides annotated lists of links useful for learning/teaching in a variety of areas (see Interactive Physics and Interactive Biology ). The focus is not on course syllabi or notes but rather on materials from which individuals can learn themselves, and particularly on those with an interactive component. This list and annotations was created by Katie DiFelice. Suggestions for additions to the list are warmly welcomed and should be sent to Serendip Click here to jump to one of the following topics: Chemistry for Fun
