Chaos Theory
Chaos theory is about explaining apparent disorder in a very ordered way. Chaos theory states that things are not really random, just complex. Many apparently random events can be represented by a simple computation which, when iterated, produce complex results. That is a formula which is constantly repeated can produce models of trees and weather system. The values from each stage are feed back into the next stage, also known as feed back. The result of iteration, formulas and feedback is a chaotic system. Most natural processes are chaotic systems as well as many man made ones. For example the sea is a chaotic system drive by a finite amount of inputs (wind, sun, tides, land masses, etc.). The result is a complex system which although possible to predict generally is hard to predict in detail. Any one who has, at one time or the other, played at dodging the wave at the beach will know that. A man made example of a chaotic system is the financial markets of the world. These, from the outside, appear to be random and unpredictable, but, as we know, each financial decision is a conscious decision and is far from random. Each step of the way computations are used, along with previous knowledge to make these decisions. Yet, due to the sheer complexity of dependencies, the results can often appear to be far from rational. An example of this is a general election. The reasons for why a person might vote for one party or the other are very complex. If we look at all those that vote, some reasons have more effect than others. Some events will make the local news that will effect hundreds of voters, some events happen only to one person and some will nearly effect all. All these influences will result in a person voting for one of, say, three parties. Each vote may seam to have very little effect on the whole result but a single vote could give one party the lead over the other. If this happens there is no way to really trace which vote it was, but one voter changing his mind could result in a coalition or a single party ruling the country.

Introduction to Chaos Theory
``God plays dice with the universe,'' is [Joseph] Ford's answer to Einstein's famous question. ``But they're loaded dice. And the main objective of physics now is to find out by what rules were they loaded and how can we use them for our own ends.'' [ , p.314,] Chaos brings to mind images of complete randomness, of disorder and anarchy. It is a messy room, a mob rushing down a city street and a swarm of bees. In 1986, at a conference on mathematical chaos held by the Royal Society in London, mathematicians were asked to define the ``chaos'' that had become the buzzword for their hot research area. After much deliberation, they offered the following: Stochastic behavior occurring in a deterministic system. [ , p.17,] As definitions go, this one is particularly constipated and quite far from fostering any intuition about the subject. In Stewart's Does God Play Dice?, he claims knowledge of the etymology of stochastic in the statement, ``The Greek word

A lively account of this event is given in Newton's Clock: Chaos in the Solar System sensitive dependence on initial conditions - in his own words: If we knew exactly the laws of nature and the situation of the universe at the initial moment, we could predict exactly the situation of that same universe at a succeeding moment. but even if it were the case that the natural laws had no longer any secret for us, we could still only know the initial situation approximately . If that enabled us to predict the succeeding situation with the same approximation , that is all we require, and we should say that the phenomenon had been predicted, that it is governed by laws. But it is not always so; it may happen that

And what is so special about this episode? I watch a lot of TV shows, believe me. But only very few episodes of them touched me like "Chaos Theory" did. I was moved, I was shocked and I was delighted. Now, what happened? If you haven't seen this episode and you don't wanna be spoiled you may wanna skip this.
The episode starts excatly where the last one stopped: Carter, Abby, Pratt, Deb and a patient are still put in quaratine in the ER because of a possible case of small pocks. The whole ER ist shut down, noone may go in or out. While the five start to while away the time by playing football and ordering pizza, the others try to care for the remaining patients and get them into other hospitals. While waiting for the helicopter to land on top of the hospital, Dr. Romano is not paying attention for a short moment, which costs him his left arm. It's cut by one of the helicopter wings. Now his colleagues have to worry not only about their patients, but also about Dr. Romano. A team of special physicians is called to save the arm.

It is perhaps hard for Americans to understand their occupation of Iraq in the context of globalization. But Iraq today is clearly the epicenter of that trend, and in this context chaos is king. Here, military force was used to seize control of the world's most important commodity, oil. While corporate prospectors allied with the US search the country like safari hunters on elephants for any opportunity to profit from Iraq's misery - that's how conspicuous they are - inside the Green Zone their innocuous-looking counterparts draft regulations for privatizing everything from health care to prisons.
It is chaos that makes this whole system possible. Without the chaos, Iraqis would not allow the country to be sold off wholesale, or allow the US troops to remain after the June 30 "transfer" of sovereignty. Without chaos, there is little reason to assume that the imposition of neo-liberal globalization, which has wreaked such havoc in so many other countries of the developing world, would be in the process of entrenchment in Iraq. Without the chaos, there would be more reporting on the appalling conditions in the hospitals and schools, which are violations of the US obligations as occupying power under the Geneva and Hague Conventions.

computers. Fashion leaders whose biggest future worries - once they'd picked out an appropriately rich
and handsome husband - involved choosing the most fabulous place to visit for their next vacation, girls
like that did not need to know how to switch on a computer. In the unlikely event that the necessity ever arose, somebody else would always do it for them and be charmed by their feminine incompetence with all things electronic. This was the natural order of things. Monsters came and monsters went, but some things remained constant. Willow Rosenberg didn't wave pompoms and Cordelia Chase didn't know which bit of a computer was called a mouse or why. It was kissing Xander that did it. Cordelia had given the matter a lot of thought and she'd concluded that this had been the moment when she sent the world hurtling off its axis by screwing with the natural order of things in the worst possible way. From that point on all the other Bad Things unfolded naturally

    Chaos Theory
The word "chaos" is sometimes taken to mean the opposite of "cosmos", in that the latter term has connotations of "order". Until the last few decades, chaotic systems have not been studied nearly as much as ordered systems, perhaps because chaotic systems are far more difficult to understand...
    What is a chaotic system?
Looking at the rising smoke from a cigarette illustrates some of the differences between ordered and chaotic systems. Initially the smoke rises in a smooth upward flow (laminar flow), which breaks down a few inches above the tip of the cigarette into a disordered, turbulent motion(turbulent flow). This is an example of a transition from an ordered system into a chaotic one. A stream of water flowing out of an appropriately adjusted faucet exhibits similar behaviour, which is ubiquitous in a host of phenonomena, both man-made and natural. The weather systems of the atmosphere (which are intertwined with the heat and mass flows in the oceans) are chaotic. A system of more than two bodies orbiting under each other under their mutual gravitational attraction is also chaotic, by extension the entire solar system is a chaotic!
One non-technical definition of a chaotic system goes as follows: A chaotic system is one in which a tiny change can have a huge effect. Thus the oft heard statement that a butterfly in China can cause a hurricane in the Atlantic. What makes the situation even more difficult is that we have only recently begun to forge the mathematical tools necessary to study these problems. As usual, some of the seminal works on chaos were performed by physicists of the former USSR, whose work received scant attention until recently; although today, chaotic systems are being extensively studied both experimentally and theoretically.

I n general, the Chaos Theory is the study of forever changing complex systems. The specific complex system being studied at http://membrane.com/chaos.html is the human mind (The Experiment). The method for examining the human mind - the impact of the Blues on modern music. Whereas the science of Chaos tends to focus on mathematical concepts of recursive process or a set of differential equations, The Experiment models a system based on the creation of music. The publishing of The Experiment was started December 25, 1994 and is on-going.

We can’t waste time thinking about where we have been, either 20 years ago or yesterday, places like Kabul or Baghdad, such a mess, just not photogenic or fun anymore. It’s on to a new scene, the next eye-grabbing trailer. It’s all about entertainment anyway. The great minds are constantly working for us the viewer, to keep us munching the popcorn and shushing the guys sitting next to us so we can enjoy the movie. From the well-staged briefings in the new CENTCOM theater, to the excited and on-the-team reporters, pleasantly rumpled and doe-eyed from another night in bed with the troops, to the deck of cards we are now shuffling with the Iraqi 55 most wanted, it’s all about fun. Please pay no attention to the ragged civilians or our tattered Constitution ailing in the background.

In the 1970s, the founding parents of the Chaos Theory began to manipulate non-linear equations often dealing with meteorology.  Since then Chaos Theory has found wide acceptance in all areas of science, business, and even popular culture. Chaos is formally defined as the study of complex non-linear dynamic systems.           Complex:  a multitude of variables and equations within equations.           Non-linear:  the equation cannot be solved like your program code.           Dynamic:  ever-changing, depending upon perspective. If this sounds confusing up to the point of being chaotic, yet at the same time seems to define real life, you're getting the hang of it!
