83. Red Rock Cavies (Guinea Pigs) - Ontario, Canada
breeds Coronet and Silkie Cavies. Located in Ontario, Canada and offer guinea pigs for pets or show.
http://redrockcavies.com/
Red Rock Cavies was founded in 1995 with two red Satin Teddies, LJ's Sierra and LJ's Nevada. Sierra and Nevada gave us the opportunity to find out all about the cavy fancy and it has been an amazing roller coaster ride ever since ! In the Spring of 1996, Heather of Red Rock was at the Annual Opening OCC event in Niagara Falls, Ontario - where she came across a red/white Coronet boar, that she bought and dubbed "Tacoma". From that point on, Red Rock would become transformed, from a house of short coats - to one of long coated beauties, with drooping eyebrows and flowing manes that would drape over their regal backs. Heather still has a soft spot for the Teddy breed , but the Coronets would rule under the Red Rock prefix from 1996, onwards. BIS, 2 RIS, Tacoma (1996) Home to approximately 30 cavies, Red Rock is a small, yet efficient caviary with a strong breeding program that has produced Champions in Canada, the United States, the Netherlands, Denmark and Sweden. Red Rock also understands the need for pet guinea pigs (cavies). Although, primarily raised for show - we always have guinea pigs available for loving pet homes and nothing brings us more joy, then to have them lavished, spoiled, with extra TLC that a pet home can provide. We welcome you to browse through our home page and learn more about Red Rock Cavies. We absolutely adore our guinea pigs and are quite proud to present our cherished sweethearts on the world-wide web !

The vast majority of cats found in the average household are domestic or random-bred, containing no pedigreed (cats of a known breed lineage) in their background.
A pedigreed or known breed cat's background is recorded for as few as three generations and often as many as 10 or more generations. Breeds may or may not allow outcrosses to other breeds. Outcrosses are allowed for various reasons.
- The breed may still be in development and still needs input from the parent breeds to standardize type.
- The breed may need genetic diversity to improve the overall quality of the breed.
Determining a Breed Simply having a few of the characteristics of a known breed does not mean that a cat is of that particular breed. Not all large longhaired cats are Maine Coons, not all cats with color restricted to its points are Siamese. These are physical traits that many cats share across species, breed and non-breed alike. Sometimes people confuse a physical characteristic with a breed. For example, a calico is not a breed, but a color pattern. Polydactilism (having extra toes) is a physical variation, not a breed.

Any oriental elongation or excessive cobbiness is incorrect and should be regarded as a fault. HEAD: top slightly rounded. Good breadth between the ears. Wide cheekbones, tapering to a short blunt wedge. EARS: medium in size. Set well apart. Slight forward tilt. Broad at the base. Slightly rounded tips. The outer line continues the shape of the upper face, except as that may not be possible in mature, full-cheeked males. MUZZLE: visible nose break. Jaw wide at the base. Strong lower jaw. This breed originally came from Siam (now known as Thailand) in the late 1800's. An English ambassador received a cat as a gift and brought it to England. It was even then a slender, graceful cat, although not to the extremes of today's Siamese. Early descriptions refer to its long legs, and long wedge-shaped head. This combined with the dramatic dark points on a pale body made it very popular with cat lovers.
The breed grew in popularity, to the point that Siamese classes at shows in the 1950's often had a hundred cats in them. However, quality does not always follow quantity and many of these cats were heavy boned, lacked refinement, and had pale eyes. Later breeders began breeding for a longer, leaner look and this is the hallmark of the breed today.
The Siamese could quite possibly be referred to as the "Queen of Breeds" as it has been instrumental in the development and revitalization of numerous breeds, as well as spawning a couple of sibling breeds. It is the direct ancestor of the Oriental Shorthair, Colorpoint Shorthair, Balinese, and the Javanese as all are color and/or coat-length varients of the Siamese. It was central to the development of the Himalayan and the Tonkinese.

Kronyc Lops I've moved, AGAIN! My new url is Http://evasive_kronyc.tripod.com This is my new site, previously I was Sparr Valley Rabbitry and I have now become Kronyc Lops. The reason for the change is mainly that my mom's riding stable is known as Sparr Valley and it's just so long to say. I guess I just wanted to redo it so hopefully the newer version is better.
Is that you? Why Kronyc? The definition of Kronyc (formally spelled chronic) is an affliction that persists, a habbit that you just can't shake. Rabbit raising is like that, highly contagous and impossible to cure. It's an ongoing battle to just manage a show without aquiring new stock, a kronyc problem if you catch my meaning. 88. The Birth Of The Bengal Breed
Jean, Bengal cats make reliable pets and are successful show cats. What impact doesthe success of the breed have on the future of the wild Asian Leopard cat?
    http://www.bengalcat.co.uk/pet/mill/
Claire Robson interviews Jean Mill, the founder of the Bengal Cat breed
Jean Mill is a tall, gracious woman who lives in California, USA, where she breeds Bengals from four different Asian Leopard Cat lines. Although she has been involved with hybridising Asian Leopard cats from as early as 1963, there are no surviving cats from these early efforts. Instead, the modern Bengal originates from Jean’s breeding programme of 1975. This began when she married engineer Bob Mill, a dapper and genial man, now retired, with whom she moved to the Covina acreage, which was planted with fruit and oak trees, with no close neighbours to disturb... Editor: Jean, how did you first get involved with cats? Jean Mill: I have been a lifelong cat lover. I used to curl up with my favourite cat to take naps as a child. My mother would then tiptoe in to pry the sleeping cat out of my arms, and deposit it in the back yard. "When you’re a grownup, you may have as many cats as you want, but in this house cats stay outdoors," she said. But even today my Bengals must all live outside because my husband is allergic to cats! Editor: How do you keep your Bengals, since they are not allowed indoors?

Get ready to meet this wonderful persian boy!
When I was a puppy, I entertained you with my antics and made you laugh. You called me your child, and despite a number of chewed shoes and a couple of murdered throw pillows, I became your best friend. Whenever I was "bad," you'd shake your finger at me and ask "How could you?" - but then you'd relent, and roll me over for a bellyrub.
My housebreaking took a little longer than expected, because you were terribly busy, but we worked on that together. I remember those nights of nuzzling you in bed and listening to your confidences and secret dreams, and I believed that life could not be any more perfect. We went for long walks and runs in the park, car rides, stops for ice cream (I only got the cone because "ice cream is bad for dogs," you said), and I took long naps in the sun waiting for you to come home at the end of the day.
Gradually, you began spending more time at work and on your career, and more time searching for a human mate. I waited for you patiently, comforted you through heartbreaks and disappointments, never chided you about bad decisions, and romped with glee at your homecomings, and when you fell in love.

The Abyssinian is the short-haired version of the Somali, with the exception of the coat length; they are the same cat. The overall impression of the ideal Abyssinian is a medium to large cat, regal in appearance. Males are proportionately larger than females. The Abyssinian shows firm muscle tone and is lithe and panther-like in activity showing a lively interest in all surroundings.
The coat of the Abyssinian has an iridescent quality reflecting warmth of color giving the impression of a colorful cat. Coat pattern is genetically a form of agouti ticking with even dark colored ticking contrasted with lighter bands of color. The evenness of the ticking and the lighter colored bands give a translucent effect. Although rarely seen today some Abyssinians may exhibit ear tufts, "thumb print" markings on the back of the ears or darker colored hocks. The Abyssinian is of sound health and vigor, physically well balanced, and amenable to handling. Head: The shape is a modified wedge with rounded contours as viewed from the front. In profile there shall be no flat planes, but a gentle transition between brow, nose and muzzle. There should be no evidence of a nose break. The head should be of ample length in general balance with the rest of the cat. In profile the skull is to show a gentle curve flowing over the head into an arched neck. The muzzle shall follow gentle contours in conformity with the head as viewed from the front and in profile. The chin shall be full, neither projecting nor receding, having a rounded appearance. Adult males may have jowls. The muzzle shall not be sharply pointed and there shall be no evidence of snippiness, foxy appearance or whisker pinch.
