Description:
The Cartoon Art Museum is moving and is now closed. It will re-open this fall at its new location at 1017 Market Street.
The Cartoon Art Museum stands as the only museum of its kind on the West Coast. This museum, which is located in the Yerba Buena Gardens Cultural District, serves as a venue for the appreciation of cartoons as entertainment and as art form. In the second-floor gallery space, exhibits showcase a variety of works, including art from movies, commercials, TV shows, comic strips, and comic books. These works draw from a range of cartooning techniques, displaying the fantastic capabilities of this artistic expression.
At the Cartoon Art Museum, creative cartooning can be viewed through all its formative stages, beginning with designs and storyboards, onto layout, then ultimately completed with the final design or animation. The various production details such as concept designs, color keys and digital prints illustrate the stages of the artistic process that motivates each project.

The nave is modifications of the German verb Scheinen
A CARTOON series is a prolonged work of art, and art is marked by representation, hence by Scheinen , by seeming. This is because a phenomenon or "thing" is different from its representation. We identify the "real thing" by playing with the representation of it. At times it can be difficult. But the items we discuss when talking of cartoons or other forms and outlets of art per se, are marked by Scheinen , by illuding. It is done in a large variety of ways.
We find room for artist, artwork, viewer, and philosopher around the nave. They interact in various ways with one another. We go into it (fig. 1).

Hallmarks of comic strips
Comic strips bring joy to lots of people on this planet. The comic strip is one outlet, one mode, of cartoon art. Like art in general, cartoon art has foundations.
Distinguishing characteristics
One foundation of cartoon art is some cartoon
CARTOON stips may look primitive, but may not be so anyway. Much depends on the seeing eye in this as elsewhere. Human activity and much else in the world may be represented in cartoon art, be it good or bad, beautiful or ugly, beneficial or destructive.
The slogan "Cartoon art is expression"; but it is more often used to designate the product of that process, the completed artwork or artifact itself, as in the remark ""Han Ola and han Per cartoons" is probably a source of medium enjoyment only. What can the reasons be?"
The task of the philosopher of cartoon art is to provide conceptual foundations for such as (1) examining the basic concepts underlying the cartoon arts and the works of cartoon art critics and readers, and by (2) arriving at true conclusions about cartoon art, aesthetic value, expression, and the other concepts that makes that sort of enjoyment meaningful somehow.

T he International Museum of Cartoon Art was founded as the Museum of Cartoon Art by cartoonist Mort Walker in 1974. Dismayed by the fact that so many original works by cartoonists were being lost or destroyed, Walker had begun collecting cartoon art years earlier. The Museum was created to collect, preserve and exhibit original works of cartoon art from all over the world. In 1992, the museum relocated from New York to Boca Raton, Florida, where it's new facility opened to the public in March of 1996. It's collection currently consists of approximately 160,000 pieces of artwork, including original animation art, newspaper strips, comic book art, editorial cartoons, gag cartoons, caricatures, sports cartoons, and book and magazine illustrations. The museum also has over 10,000 books and hundreds of hours of film and video, which will eventually be made available to the public through an on-site research library.
    The Permanent Collection
Roughly half of the museum's first floor gallery space currently showcases highlights from the Museum's permanent collection. The newspaper strip area contains original pieces covering the medium's century of existence, from art by early masters like Richard Outcault and Winsor McCay to the work of more recent favorites such as Charles Schulz and Bill Watterson. On display in the comic book area are original pages and covers by Jack Kirby, Bob Kane, Curt Swan and others. Gag and magazine cartoons, many of which appeared in
